Joey left this world unexpectedly on September 22nd, 2021, at the young age of 49 while hunting elk near Strawberry Reservoir.
Joey was born on September 18, 1972, in Salt Lake City, UT to Thomas Candelaria and CarolAnn Matsuura.
Joey and Liz started a friendship long before they fell in love and finally tied the knot on 07/07/07 after realizing they were the love of each other's lives.
Joey was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish, bike, and camp. He got out as often as he could, especially during the fall. He also loved to jeep- especially in Moab, UT and after the recent purchase of a 2nd home there, was excited to spend more time with his family and teach his littlest ones the ropes. Even though he loved all of these things, his greatest love was his family.
He worked hard, and always knew what he wanted, so in 2012 he made his dream become a reality when he purchased Tip Top Transmissions.
Joey was a hard-headed man with a massive heart. He was constantly making friends and chatting with everyone he knew. He always made sure that his opinion was known and heard, but he never held any grudges and gave everyone the benefit of the doubt. Anytime that someone needed help, regardless of the problem, he'd drop what he was doing to go and help.
Joey was an amazing and loving husband, father, and friend and will be missed by so many. He is gone but will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife Liz, daughters Asia (Nick), Alexi (Kevin), Aurielle, and son Kohlton.
Funeral services will be Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Larkin Mortuary Riverton, 3688 West 12600 South, Riverton with a visitation prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Interment to follow services at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah.

He is such an amazing man! He is already missed by so many! Liz & kids, you all have been so strong and you guys are what made his world! Though he seemed so tough, his love for his family (All his family) was always shown. I love you all! RIP cousin! Love you!

Jody, Meagan and I are so sorry for your loss of such a wonderful man. We are so glad we got to know Joey over the last few years. He always worked so hard for all of us especially helping my daughter Meagan. Joey will be sadly missed but will always be loved.
