On Sunday afternoon, our cherished Elsie passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. As matriarch of her family, she left a legacy of love, faith and joy that was centered in her family. She had the ability and gift to love and accept each person for who they were.
Elsie was born in Hudson, Colorado on June 21, 1934 to Philip Wagner Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Wolfe. She married Franklin Dick Staker in the Salt Lake City Temple (divorced) and was blessed with 5 beautiful children; Marsha (Ed) Greenberg, Connie (Robert deceased) Norton, Jerry (Wendy) Staker, David (Deanna) Staker, and Mary (Danny) Brown. She later married LeRoy Lennis Glover (deceased) in the Salt Lake Temple. She is survived by her dear sister Amelia VanHole and childhood best friend Shirley Wagner Eads. Her perfect love extended to her 25 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren. She will be remembered as a stalwart member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Her strong faith and love for the Savior, was the greatest gift she gave to her posterity. How grateful we are for her faith and frequent declarations of her testimony to her family through her words and actions. She faithfully served within the Lord's church in various positions and was a tender primary teacher for many years loving the little children whom she served.
We will miss her infectious smile and laugh, youthful exuberance, energy, playfulness, and strength. Elsie loved M&M's, Doritos, pizza, Mexican food and ice cream. She enjoyed working many hours in her yard and spending time with the many dogs she raised. She took care of herself and loved to exercise. As a youth, she loved to Dutch Hop and continued to dance throughout her life. She was a gifted cook in addition to being an excellent homemaker. Elsie worked at Maxfield Chocolates, OC Tanner, and Harmon's where she met many wonderful coworkers who became good friends.
Elsie spent the last year of her life under the special care of skilled nurses and angel staff members at the Draper Beehive Home. We wish to express our admiration and appreciation to the home's caregivers and residents.
Elsie consistently bore witness of the eternal nature of families. She often proclaimed, "Isn't it wonderful that we can all be together again!" Our grief is lightened by knowing that she has reunited with her mother who passed away when Elsie was just 7 years old. We also look forward with joy to the day when we are reunited with her.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at the Glacial Park Ward, 2675 E. Mt. Jordan Road, Sandy, Utah, at 12:00 p.m. and a viewing will be held from 10:30-11:45 a.m. Interment will follow at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah.
