Hans Guenther \"Johnnie\" Hubert

1930 ~ 2017

Hans Guenther "Johnnie" Hubert, 87, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2017. Born on January 17, 1930, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Ella Marie Maykus and Erich Otto Hubert. His family moved from Milwaukee to Salt Lake City when he was two months old. As a teenager he moved to Idaho. He graduated in the top ten of his class from Dietrich High School. Hans served in the United States Army from 1953-1955. He married the love of his life Lloyda Colleen Cummings on July 2, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple. They began their lives together in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and returned to Salt Lake City in 1955 and settled down for good. He was well known for his decades of work in the insurance industry.

Hans loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several callings. He served an honorable mission to Germany and later served a mission at the Freiberg, Germany Temple with his bride from 2006-2007. He considered his greatest work as that of a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He tenderly cared for his sweetheart during their 62 years of marriage. He was always known to have a keen sense of humor and continually amazed his posterity with his comedy and wit.

He is survived by his children Debra (Marc "Hutch") Hunter, Erich (Mary Ellen) Hubert, Heidi (Randy) Harris and Greg (Tammy) Hubert; 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, his brothers Roy and Richard and his sister Trudy. Preceded in death by his wife Colleen, his daughter Pamela, his grandson Jason and his brother Wilford.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 10th, 2017,11 a.m. at the Parleys 5th Ward 2625 E. Stringham Avenue. A viewing will be held Thursday from 6-8 pm at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 East 1300 South, and Friday prior to the services from 9:30-10:40 am.
