Judith Elizabeth Patten, (Judy), our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on December 4, 2023, due to heart complications. She is survived by her husband Warren, her two brothers, Tom and Lynn, and her three children, Tom, John, and Jessie. Judy also leaves behind her 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Judy was a kind, intelligent, compassionate woman; a remarkable mother, grandmother and wife, who taught us all about what it means to love unconditionally. She was devoted to her family, community of faith, and friends. She had a habit of telling it like it is, and a remarkable sense of humor she shared with her brothers, whom she remained close to all her life.

Judy was born in Salt Lake City on October 4, 1939, to Lynn Reese and Julia Wallace. In her youth, Judy loved to travel, and took jobs around the country that afforded her an opportunity to visit new places, often traveling with her best friend Karen.

In the summer of 1959, while Judy was working a summer job in San Francisco, she met the love of her life Warren Patten, on a blind date. They were married the following year in 1960 and were coming up on 64 years of marriage in January. Judy and Warren remained devoted to one another until her passing.

Judy was an incredible mother and grandmother, who always had an open heart and wise advice. She remained very close to her children and grandchildren throughout her life, and we were blessed by her love, humor and strong values.

Judy worked as a secretary, and a bookkeeper and had a heart for volunteering at her church, and in the community as a whole. Judy remained active in her church, traveled to many new places, and kept fit through yoga, and by taking long walks with her beloved husband Warren, until earlier this year, when her health took a turn for the worse. She was well cared for by her husband and children until she was taken away from us too soon. She will be missed terribly, but her love and memory will endure.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 23rd at noon at Zion Lutheran Church, 1070 Foothill Drive, SLC. All who loved her are invited to attend.
