Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, Judith (Judy) Ann Waterman Johnson, 91, passed away on July 15, 2026, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the first baby born in the new Price City Hospital on June 5, 1935, to Arthur & Kate (Richens) Waterman.
Since her dad was the local milkman, Judy began working at an early age, spending hours washing milk bottles and delivering milk around town. When not working, she was dancing. She performed in revues with her brother, Garth, and taught dance lessons in her parents’ basement for several years.
Judy graduated from Carbon High School in 1953 and attended the St. Mark’s Hospital School of Nursing, where she received her diploma in Nursing and became a Registered Nurse in 1957. While working at Ingleside State Psychiatric Hospital in Hastings, Nebraska, she met her “blue-eyed tender hearted, Ed,” who became her husband. She married Edward August Johnson in a small ceremony on January 18, 1958, in Judy’s parents’ living room in Price, Utah. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on September 4, 1959.
Judy worked as a nurse at St. Mark’s Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah for 30 years and was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime, she enjoyed researching family history, putting together puzzles, traveling, camping, sewing, teaching parenting classes and playing Dr. Mario and card games with her family. She regarded time with her family as her greatest joy.
She is survived by her children: Debi Behunin, Todd (Kim) Johnson, Cami (Paul) Thacker, Kipp (Jacque) Johnson, Rick (Angela) Johnson, Juli Boles, Lonn (Laurie) Johnson, & daughter-in-law, Jana Johnson
She is the proud grandmother of 24 grandchildren and great-grandmother of (soon-to-be) 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur & Kate Waterman; her husband, Ed Johnson; her siblings, Garth, Gerri, Carol, and Sue; and her oldest son, Brad (Jana) Johnson.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the Heber City Cemetery, 680 N 550 E, Heber City, Utah 84032.
Judy’s family would like to thank the staff & residents at Cottonwood Creek Senior Living Center and Inspiration Hospice for their care of Judy and the friendship they extended to her.
I remember staying at Aunt Judy's for a short visit in the white house and I remember her making hot fudge sauce for ice cream. It was SO yummy.
I just recently talked to her on the phone. She called me several times to see how we were doing. I am going to miss that!!! I loved her SO very much!!!!

Ed and Judy always lifted us and our family - and brought happiness to us. Now this amazing couple are together again. We send our warmest greetings to the family at this tender time.

I worked at St. Mark’s Hospital from 1973-1984 and had the privilege of working with Judy frequently. Judy was a good nurse and I always learned something when I worked with her. I also worked occasionally with Debi. I also knew Judy because she and her family lived down the street from my grandma, Delone Sheffield Ashworth, on 2000 East. My Grandma absolutely loved Ed and Judy and felt very blessed to have them as her home/visiting teachers. My thoughts and prayers are with your family.
