Judith "Judy" Zwahlen Knott

1939 ~ 2023

Judith (Judy) Zwahlen Knott, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 22, 2023. Born on July 4, 1939, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Judy was the beloved daughter of Samuel H. and Atlanta (Berg) Zwahlen. On July 17, 1967, she married, William C. Knott, Jr.

Judy loved anything to do with yarn and thread – needlepoint, cross stitch, knitting, and quilting. She was often found at the senior center playing cards or chatting on the phone with one of her sisters. She loved movies and her collection of DVDs would rival Blockbuster Video.

She had a love for gardening and spent countless hours tending to our garden and growing some of the most delicious tomatoes. The memories of shelling peas, snapping beans, cutting corn off the cob, making jams and bottling peaches will never be forgotten.

An avid reader, Judy often found joy in the pages of books. When she wasn’t occupied with watching movies, giving love to the many cats she had over the years, preparing family meals and baking birthday cakes, she would immerse herself in her favorite novels from the local library, finding escape within their pages.

Judy was preceded in death by her husband; and her siblings Jean Mitchell, Sam, Shirlee Gilbert, Drucilla Nash, and Carl. She is survived by her four children Linda Jarvis, David (Christel), Sharon (Jay) Barney, Paul (Sherie); eleven grandchildren and her sister Ruth Ellefsen.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living for their care and support, as well as the compassionate nurses at Inspiration Hospice Care for their kindness during Judy’s final days.

Judy loved that she was born on Independence Day and she will be laid to rest just prior to the holiday on July 3, 2023 in a private ceremony at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) in Sandy.
