Julia (Julie) Ann Smith Rossiter was born in Salt Lake City on July 18, 1942 to Clinton Pearson Smith and Rhea Reeder Smith. She passed away peacefully in the early morning of July 3, 2023.

Julie was a graduate of Granite High School and continued her schooling at BYU.

She met and married Ernest Terry Rossiter in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 2, 1963. They had two children. Her favorite daughter, Heather and her favorite son, Eric.

Terry and Julie worked side by side as Salt Lake County Constables until they retired. She was a hard and dedicated worker, spending countless hours in the office located in their home, often amounting to 18 hour days. They continued working together as missionaries in the Edmonton, Canada Mission.

When she was not working in the office, she was spending time with her family snowmobiling, motor biking, camping, or boating. She was a wizard at cake decorating and a talented tole painter. She took great pride in her hand painted nutcrackers. Aside from Mexican food and Diet Coke, her family was her greatest love and there was no doubt about it as she expressed it up to her dying day.

Julie was a fabulous cook and she welcomed many in her home for fabulous feasts, especially on holidays. She loved to line dance with Terry and did so weekly, until she physically could not continue to do so. She also served in the temple weekly until the progression of her husband’s Alzheimer’s required her to stay home and care for him. After his passing she returned to faithful temple service until her own dementia prevented her from participating.

Julie spent her remaining years in the Memory Center and Crescent Senior Living where she was cared for by so many wonderful and kind caregivers. Our gratitude goes out to them as well as the caregivers at Lone Peak Hospital and Rocky Mountain Health and Rehab.

Julie is survived by her two children, 7 grandchildren, and a brand new great-grandson.

Heather and Eric, I am so saddened to hear about the passing of your mother, they were both huge parts of my life for the majority of my life and I’m sad that we haven’t got to spend more time together over the last few years, just know that they’re together again, no more pain, and they are happy as ever! That doesn’t make it easier for us here on this earth, believe me, I know losing my mom last year. Just know that we love your family and you will be in our prayers.

I am so sad today. I loved this great lady and had the privilege to know her for over 40 years. She always liked to remind me that I shared a birth day with Eric her son. She was always a joy and I will miss her and Terry until we meet again. I am also so happy today for her release from the struggles in this life and for the happy reunion she is having with her eternal companion.
Heather, Eric I would love to be there for the services but am so thankful you are zooming them. We are all getting a bit older. May you find the peace of the Lord in this trial.

I loved Julie. I was always jealous of her cute dimples and white hair.
I remember she drove me all the way to St Marks hospital for my 1st Neuro surgery. We had a wonderful visit about 4 weeks ago. She made certain I looked at all her family pictures. She was so proud of them.

What a wonderful and kind soul. It was a great honor to have had those opportunities to have known her and Terry.
I’ll never forget them and the mutual love and wisdom they both shared with our family. A true blessing.
They are side by side walking together again and that makes my heart happy.
We will meet again, I know it.

Dear Julie, I know you can read me now. You have been a mother to me in the most delicate and confusing age!… Your affection, your generosity, your material and psychologicai support, your endless efforts to make me feel confortable and happy during my stay in SLC, will never be forgotten. I never took them for granted. Some of your smart comments come to my mind every now and then and still make me smile. I can still taste your terrific desserts!… I am greatful for all the love I received. I am lucky I got to spend an Important part of my life with you.
