  • Juliane Hendrika (Lester) Andrews of Ogden, Utah passed away on Monday December 13, 2021 after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer’s/Dementia.

    She was born September 7, 1949, in Haarlem, Holland to Cornelius Wilkes and Johanna Greiss Wilkes. Julie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - Day Saints. She served faithfully in all her callings.

    Julie loved to be busy and was constantly doing something even when watching TV. She had a love for knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, sewing, quilting, and crafting whenever she could. She passed the love of these things down to her daughters. She enjoyed staying busy by making things and giving them away as gifts. She had a great love of service and serving others. She was a very talented woman who also had a love for cooking and baking which she learned from her parents. Julie also loved the outdoors, football and being with family.

    She loved working in the medical field in the OB/GYN department at the University of Utah, first as a secretary, then to Residency Program Coordinator, and finished her working career as an Administrative Secretary.

    Julie was preceded in death by her first husband Melvin Harris Lester; brother, Bernd (Brent) Wilkes; and parents Cornelius Wilkes and Johanna Greiss Wilkes.

    Surviving family includes, husband, David Andrews of Ogden, Utah; Karen Wilkes (wife of Bernd (Brent) Wilkes) of Peach Tree City, GA, brother- Hansjurgen (Hans) Wilkes, wife Labretta (Lou) of St. George, Utah; sons – Kevin Andrews, Liberty Hill of Texas; Michael Lester, his wife Tamara of Austin, Tx; John Lester, wife Robin of Evanston, WY; daughters – Kelley McKusker, her husband James of Bealeton, VA; Kimberly Orr, her husband Danny of Kaysville, Ut; Jeanne Lester of Ogden, UT; Jamie Berry, her husband Jason of Cedar Park, TX. With 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

    A special thank you to Heritage Park Care Center and Mt. Ogden Rehab Center for the care of our mother these past years.

    A viewing will be held at Larkin Sunset Memorial Gardens Mortuary, in Sandy, Utah on Friday December 17, 2021 from 12:30 to 1:30 with a grave side service following at 2:00.

    Dear family of Julie,
    Happy memories of time spent with Julie growing up flood my mind. I've been grateful for the continued friendship through the years and will miss my visits with her in letters across the miles.
