Obituary

Julie Diane Bell Bailey, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away on Aug 15, 2026, surrounded by the love of the family who meant everything to her.

Julie was born on December 13, 1947 to parents Richard and Venice Bell. She grew up in Milford, Monroe and Richfield, Utah alongside her sisters, Sue, Mariam and her younger brother Richard. She had a happy childhood playing in her Grandparents barn with her siblings and cousins. She felt lucky to have her mother as her 2nd and 3rd grade teacher and her father as her principal. She graduated from Richfield High School in 1966 and later attended college at BYU. She worked at E Systems, Willow Canyon Elementary, MeritMedical and Classic Demos and was considered an exemplary employee.

Julie became a mother first to her son Collin Troy. Years later she met and married Dennis Bailey, they were married for nearly 20 years. Dennis and Julie welcomed three children, Preston, Carter and Jessica, whom they raised in Sandy, Utah. She cherished her children deeply. As her family grew, so did her joy, eventually becoming a grandmother and great-grandmother to a family she adored.

Julie also had a love for adventure. She traveled to many places throughout her life and made memories around the world, from Alaska to Europe and Australia. Some of her favorite memories included sunny days in St. George with her sisters and family. She loved the warmth, the wide-open desert landscape and the feeling of being there with the people she loved.

Julie was a fun, creative and wonderfully spunky woman who brought her own unique spark wherever she went. She had a personality all her own and was never afraid to express herself. She was extremely artistic and had a gift for seeing the beauty and possibility in ordinary things. Her creativity, humor and unique sense of style were unmistakably Julie.

Her sisters remember Julie not only as a sister, but as a life-long friend. They remember her being boy crazy in her teenage years, spending summer days tanning and staying up late bottling after the kids had gone to bed. They remember Julie quizzing everyone with trivia about songs and films. They remember fun camping trips with cousins at Country Jam and most of all, the countless little moments that became treasured memories. Her nieces and nephews remember the Saturday mornings she spent making crepes and letting them choose sugary cereal while they watched cartoons. Julie is remembered as generous, loving and playful. She was the happiest when making people around her feel special.

Her grandchildren have their own treasured collection of Grandma Julie memories. Many spent countless childhood nights sleeping over at her house, where there was always something fun to look forward to. They remember hot tubbing, staying up together and the very serious competition over who could convince Grandma to give them the longest back tickles. They remember waking up to her French toast and all the little memories that made Grandma Julie's house feel like a place they were always welcomed and loved.

Julie's faith was also an important part of her life. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved being part of the Church and the community that came with it. Her faith brought her comfort, strength and hope throughout her life. She held deeply to her belief in eternal families and looked forward to the day she would be reunited with the loved ones who had gone before her.

Julie often spoke of the day she would be reunited with her beloved son, Carter, and her nephew, Dax, who passed away years before. That hope remained close to her heart, and her family finds comfort in imagining this joyful reunion she had long looked forward to, as-well as reuniting with her brother Richard and parents.

She will be deeply missed by her entire family and by friends who were fortunate enough to know and love her. Though Julie has left their sight, she will never leave the hearts of people who loved her. Her family will carry her with them - in their memories and in the traditions she created and the love she gave so freely.

Julie you have left a great big hole in our hearts. I love you so and will cherish the fun times spending many summer weekends at the 'Bells'. The awsome times we spent in Grandpa Jones' barn, swinging from the loft and playing in the old covered wagon. Julie, we know you are rejoicing with your mom and dad and your brother, Richard. Say hi to Marc for me.
