Listen to Obituary

With hearts full of love and deep sadness, we announce the passing of Julius Lee Glasker, known fondly by many as “Trooper,” “Grandpa,” and “Mundo.” But to his grandchildren, he was simply “Papa”—a name that held the deepest affection and joy. Julius passed away peacefully on May 18, 2025, at the age of 63, leaving behind a legacy rooted in humility, love, and quiet strength.

Born on August 28, 1961, in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah, Julius was the cherished son of James and Leora Glasker. He graduated from West High School and went on to live a life full of passion, family, and purpose.

In his early years, Julius was a gifted and passionate athlete whose strength, discipline, and competitive spirit stood out both in and out of the ring. He was an accomplished boxer, known for his quick reflexes, sharp instincts, and powerful presence. On the baseball field, he was a dynamic player with a natural sense of timing, vision, and strategy—often anticipating plays before they happened. His keen observation and calm leadership made him a trusted teammate and a quiet force others looked up to. Whether in the ring or on the field, Julius brought determination, focus, and his whole heart to everything he did.

Outside of sports, Julius found joy in the simple things: fishing, riding his motorcycle, singing country songs, eating cinnamon bears, and spending time with those he loved and adored.

Above all, Julius loved his family. He is survived by his four daughters: Dr. Justina Glasker (Ervin), Cambree Barrett (Jeremiah), Aubrey Shelton (Justin), and Kylie; and eight treasured grandchildren: Zarriah Glasker, Legend Glasker, Tylee Barrett, Mayla Barrett, Tayvin Shelton, Quintin Shelton, Brayden Shelton, and Evianna Shelton.

Julius was also a loving brother to Curtis Glasker, Stephen Glasker, Carla Glasker, Jimmy Glasker, Troy Hayden, Tracy Rollin, and Julian Hayden. As the oldest, he was known as a protector and teacher—a big brother who deeply loved his siblings and would give the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. His humble spirit, kind nature, and generous heart touched everyone he met.

Friends and family often describe Julius as the most down-to-earth soul—someone who wouldn’t harm a fly, never had a harsh word to say, and always greeted others with warmth and a contagious laugh. He lived his life with quiet dignity and unwavering kindness.

One of Julius’s proudest moments was seeing his grandson, Legend Julius Glasker carry on his name and legacy. Legend recently committed to BYU as a wide receiver—an honor deeply meaningful to Julius, a lifelong and loyal BYU Cougar fan. His pride in Legend ran deep, and his spirit will live on through Legend’s journey, both on and off the field.

A memorial service honoring the life of Julius Lee Glasker will be held on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, UT 84092. Viewing will begin at 12:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m.

All who knew and loved Julius are welcome to attend and celebrate his life, his legacy, and the joy he brought to so many.

Curtis, Stephen, Jimmy and Troy.
I am very sorry for your loss. I know how you are feeling. I lost my brother back in the 2001. I will always miss him. They say time heals all. I dont know about that. Time will help you cope with your loss. As you have already learned and dealt with it. Carla, James and your mom's. Which I was happy to know them. Me and Troop had agreat times through our days at West. He was my boy. 😀👍. We had alot of laughs. I remember we would go to those dancing places and Troy would be with us. All about trying to get the digits. 🤣 lmao. Good times. Unfortunately as we got older, things changed. I got married had kids. Then got into the coaching mode with my boys. I would see you all one time or another. Usually at football games. Curtis, we went to that computer school. That was crazy and so random. My oldest son Derek knew Justina at West. I guess they were friends at that time. I do miss those times when we would be at Tut's house all talking about school mess. We laughed quite a bit. Congrats to the BYU ballers. You all must be so proud. Thumbs up. I am still a Notre Dame fan though. Hahaha. Troop was a good friend and it looks like he was very proud of his family and his children and grandchildren. It's funny my grandson calls me Papa T. Troop is called Papa. Hopefully I bump into you in time. Once again sorry for your loss. He was Troop and I was T, and I am happy to say we were boys. His smile and laugh will be missed. I miss you all, and wish you the best.
Love T also known as Traps . 😄

My deepest condolences to Julious's family and friends. Although I don't remember meeting him i do know he was family. His father was my uncle to whom I've never had the honor of meeting. May he rest in eternal peace beside our lord and savior he will be missed greatly and he will continue to be honored to which he very much deserves. To his children...you will see him again. His memory is forever stamped in your hearts and dreams for all eternity. To my cousin....even though I don't ever remember meeting you we are blood. That in itself is never broken nor is it lost on me that I love you...and I am thinking of you and God has set a time where we will meet and bask in his glory..and in his presence we will thrive in his light and energy that will carry us through forever more. Love you..Doug
