Juventa Lorraine Coughenour, 88, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, May 11, 2025 in Sandy, Utah. Lorraine was born on January 26, 1937 in Salt Lake City, UT the daughter of Bernard W. Lewis and Juventa Pierpont Lewis. Lorraine moved with her family to Washington DC and then Greenbelt, MD. As the daughter of a foreign service officer, she also lived in Frankfurt and Heidelberg, Germany, where she attended high school. She attended one year of college at Sacred Heart University in Tokyo, Japan and studied for a short time at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Her travels led her to pursue a career as an airline stewardess, which she enjoyed for many years. Lorraine was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served many callings including temple worker at the Washington DC temple. Lorraine loved playing the piano, baking sweet treats, walking and hiking, dancing with her husband, and chocolate. She loved animals and especially her many dogs. She enjoyed her time as a volunteer for the American Red Cross. Lorraine is survived by her five children, Clyde Coughenour Jr. and his wife Lucy, Alexandria, Va, Lynda Coughenour and her husband Lance Barley, Stafford, Va, Susie and her husband Rob Hamilton, Millersville, Md, James Coughenour, Glen Burnie, Md, and Holly and her husband James Cox, Sandy, UT. She is survived by nine grandchildren Alicia Gogats, Melissa Morrow, Rebecca Flint, Veronica, Hunter, and Evan Barley, Melvin Coughenour, Robbie and Sam Hamilton, and five great grandchildren, Jasmine Flint, Noah Gogats, Harrison Gogats, Alex Gogats, and Roland Barley. Lorraine is survived by her two brothers Roger Lewis and his wife Bonnie, Martinsburg, WV and Gordon Lewis and his wife Joanie, Springville, UT. She is preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Clyde I Coughenour. The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 11196 South Wasatch Blvd, Sandy, UT 84092. A second funeral service will be held in Stafford, VA at a date and time as yet to be determined. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Stafford Memorial Park, 154 Shelton Shop Rd., Stafford VA 22554.
