Russell Robert Lakin

1921 ~ 2017

Devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Russell Lakin passed away in Salt Lake City on December 20, at the age of 96. He is survived by Steven R. Lakin and Shauna Summers, both of whom benefited immeasurably from his love and devoted example. Grandchildren Gavin, Jonathon and Kelly dearly loved Grandpa. Daughter-in-law Lynda Pugh Lakin simply adored Grandpa, and he blessed her life in many, many ways.

Russ was born to Echo Brandon and Edward Robert Lakin in Val Verda (Bountiful) Utah on November 6, 1921. He graduated from Davis High School and was a member of the \"Greatest Generation,\" serving four years as an Army Air Corps navigator during World War II. Russ was married for 35 years to the former Elaine Erickson. An outstanding salesman, Russ worked for 54 years in appliances at Granite Furniture in Sugar House.

Russell was a lifelong devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the South Jordan Temple for many years. Special thanks to the many who cared for Russ at the V.A. hospital and to Mindy and A.J. for their hospice care during his final days.

Funeral services will he held on Wednesday, December 27th at Larkin Sunset Lawn, 1300 S. and Foothill (2350 E.) at 11a.m. with a viewing preceding from 9:30 to 10:30. Interment will be at the Bountiful Cemetery.
