Karen Ruth Officer Bitner

1948 ~ 2016

Karen Ruth Officer Bitner slipped away peacefully October 18, 2016 at her home and returned to her father in Heaven.

She was born April 27 1948 to Marjorie Woods Officer and Fred Harris Officer Sr. She graduated from Highland High and attended LDS Business College. She was a model and sewed her own clothes.

Karen married David Hall Bitner May 7 1970 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She and David happily raised 5 children, she was the heart of our family. She was a very loving, kind and generous woman! She never met a stranger, only a friend she had not talked to yet.

She operated a business Candy Crafts making everything for weddings: candies, cakes, dresses and veils which she most often gave away to others. She was very devoted to her family and grandchildren and her great grand-children. She served an LDS mission to the Family History library and had great success in locating families. She was proud of her membership in the Cherokee Nation and very happy of this heritage.

She is preceded in death by her parents Marjorie and Fred Officer, Sr., her brother Fred Harris Officer Jr., and her two twin daughters Sarah Anne and Gabrielle. She is survived by her husband David; children Emily Hill (Jason), Alex Bitner (Karen), Seth Bitner (Cindy), Amanda Bitner, Anne Marie Hemingway (Nicholas); 15 grandchildren and 2 great grand-children.
