Louise Smith Voeltz

1920 ~ 2013

Louise Smith Voeltz is dancing with her man once again! Louise passed away December 16, 2013 at age 93. From her birth on October 8, 1920 until her death, her life was an amazing adventure.

John and Anna Smith were her mom and dad, and she was one of 11 children. Farm life taught her to work and her mother was a midwife and Louise assisted the ladies who gave birth with light housekeeping.

She also learned how to have fun, playing ball with her sisters and friends. She graduated from Jordan High School. She met Charlie Voeltz when he would come to their home and hang out with her brothers. They were married June 20, 1941. That began a new adventure: two children, Anita Louise and Nedra Kay, and a tidy little home. Louise loved clean and beautiful, and she was an excellent cook. Everyone loved her pies! She loved to make things and had numerous crafts projects over the years. Louise taught Charlie to dance and they loved to go out on the town. Charlie would buy Louise a gardenia and off they would go dancing. They were still the stars of the dance floor at the senior center.

They loved to travel with Louise\s brothers and sisters — Hawaii being their favorite destination. After a beautiful dance of 61 years, Charlie passed away in 2002. It was difficult for Louise, but she carried on.

She has been preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters: Clifford, Gwen, LaRose, Cecil, Helen, Bill, Elmer, and Margaret. Two brothers remain: Sherman and Dale. Her daughter Anita passed away in 2010. So she had many loved ones enfold her in their arms when she crossed over.

Farewell, beautiful lady — mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. We who remain will always love you dearly. Daughter Nedra, grandchildren Kim (Mark) Staker, David (Jennifer) Pritt, Joel Pritt, and Valerie (David) Christensen and 17 great grandchildren. Her first great-great granddaughter is on the way! Life goes on.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 21, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the services. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
