Elizabeth Joe Ann Smith, 86, of Salt Lake City, died Tuesday, October 11, 2016. She was born September 19, 1930 in Murray, Utah, the daughter of James Ross and Iva Christensen Smith.
Joe Ann previously served as Assistant General Secretary of the Primary General Board of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also worked twenty-three years for the Church Magazine Circulation Department. Over the other years, she worked for the American Foundry Division of Eimco Corporation, General Electric Credit Corporation, Universal CIT Credit Corp., and several medical establishments.
She was a member of the Ivins Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was active in all auxiliaries. She served a mission to the Netherlands from 1954 to 1956.
Joe Ann is survived by one sister, Robin Leigh Fryman, Burnsville, Minnesota, many much loved nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews along with many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Patricia Sue Russell.
Funeral Services will be held at theWellsWard, 1830 South 300 East, Salt Lake City, UT on Monday, October 17, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with a closed casket visitation from 9:30-10:45 prior to the service. Interment at Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Utah Heart Assn., Cancer Fund, and Primary Children's Hospital.
