Geraldine Bridge Andersen

1919 ~ 2016

Geraldine Andersen passed away November 20, 2016, just a few weeks before her 97th birthday. Born December 17, 1919 in Magrath, Alberta Canada to John Henry and Alvira Dickson Bridge. She attended Magrath Elementary and Magrath High School before enrolling in Paramount Beauty College. Later in life while living in Hawaii, she also attended the Church College of Hawaii. As a young woman she served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in New York State. Geraldine was an active member of the LDS church and held many positions including as Relief Society President and was also active in The Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She Married Henning Andersen in the Cardston, Alberta LDS temple on May 25, 1949. The two of them moved to the United States in 1955. She has called Utah home ever since. Salt Lake City may have been home but her winters spent in St. George, Utah were special. Geraldine traveled extensively with Henning's work and spent time living on every continent with the exception of Antarctica.

She was a skilled painter of landscapes and enjoyed quilting, needlepoint, and knitting. Hand knit slippers for the entire family were a regular sight under the Christmas tree. Knit caps for newborns were donated to local hospitals. Her quilts and blankets are the favorite of many family members.

Geraldine is survived by daughter Denise (Steve) Clifford, son Ronald (Laura) Andersen, brother Jack Bridge, 15 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Henning Andersen, a daughter Kristel, a granddaughter Rachel Ann, 1 brother, 2 sisters and her parents.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Coventry Assisted Living, Holladay Health Care, and Brighton Hospice for their amazing outpouring of love and support.

A viewing will be held Friday evening, November 25th, from 6 to 8 PM and one hour prior to the funeral services which will be held the next day at 2 PM. All functions will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) Sandy, Utah.
