Dean Ronald Johnson, 82, of Salt Lake City, UT, passed away on Tuesday, May 13, 2014. He was born in Salt Lake City on August 20, 1931 to Alton and Edith Johnson, and attended Sumner Elementary, Lincoln Jr. High and Granite High School.
Dean joined the army and served in the Korean conflict, then was honorably discharged on Nov. 29, 1951. He worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company from 1951 until retiring in 1987, and then worked for Precision Telephone Company for five years. Dean married Donna Bell on June 18, 1955. He will be remembered as a family man, providing for his family throughout his life. He coached his boys in Little League baseball.
Dean enjoyed golf, bowling, deer hunting, watching sports and working in his yard. After retirement, he loved to travel with friends, often going snowbirding in Arizona. Dean loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Dean is survived by his wife Donna, son Byron (Judy), daughter-in-law Mary, siblings Joyce Davies and Jerry (Carol), grandchildren Andy, Amber, Becky, Brad and Alex, and great grandchildren Lilli and Alexis. He was preceded in death by his children Paul and Jana, siblings Coleen Nelson, Layne, and Susan and grandchildren Candice and Katie.
The funeral will be held on Saturday, May 17 at 2 pm at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple in Salt Lake. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Bountiful Memorial Park Cemetery at 2224 South 200 West in Bountiful.
