Caroline Johanna Hobson

Caroline Johanna Hobson passed from this life on February 21, 2020 in Salt Lake City, Utah after 99 Ω years of growth, service, and achievement. She was born in Ogden on August 16, 1920 to Jesse Lewis and Florence Ella Jones Hobson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Glen, Percy, Jesse, Warren, and Alfred, and her sister Wanda.

Caroline sought higher education, had a successful career in social work administration, and served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She earned a degree in Social Work from the University of Utah and a Master of Social Work from Indiana University. She was then employed in Denver, Colorado and Indianapolis, Indiana, where she was director of discharge planning at Winona Memorial Hospital.

Because she wanted to help eradicate tuberculosis, Caroline volunteered for years with the American Lung Association and spent seventeen years on the national board, where she administered the annual research budget.

A talented singer, Caroline loved performing. In Denver she auditioned and was chosen for the role of the Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music.

After her retirement in 1985, Caroline returned to Utah. She offered her professional counseling services as a resource to her stake president and saw clients in private practice. In addition, serving in the Salt Lake Temple brought her great joy for many years.

The viewing and funeral service will be on Saturday, February 29. Viewing begins at 10:00 a.m. and the funeral at 11:00.Larkin Mortuary, 260 E S Temple, Salt Lake City, UT 84111. The graveside service will be in the Ogden City Cemetery at 1:30 p.m..
