Kaelyn Moore

1964 ~ 2023

Kaelyn Moore passed away from complications of breast cancer at the age of 59, she was surrounded by her loved ones, on February 23, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born on January 28, 1964, in Sandy, Utah to Fred and Fran Smith.

Kaelyn married David Moore, July 5, 1986. They were married for 33 years and later divorced. They had four children and spent a lot of great memories together.

Kaelyn spent her days fishing, camping, being with family and riding her Harley Davidson motorcycle. She always had the best time in whatever she did, even through her chemo therapy treatments she never hesitated to be picked up on a motorcycle, call her best friend Sherrie, and feel the wind in her hair. Her kids would consistently joke, “she’s running the streets again”. She had an enormous heart and had a way of making you feel accepted immediately. Kaelyn was spunky, adventurous and never hesitated to tell you how it is. She would reply to a text “fuuuuhhh” or would call you out of the blue, “Hurry. I have an hour, lets go to lunch”.

Kaelyn had an insurmountable number of friends both personally and professionally. She worked for Utah Housing Corporation and recently celebrated her 20 year anniversary.

Kaelyn‘s legacy will be carried on through her children; Vanessa Jones (James), Forrest Moore (Lindsey), Angela Jensen (Cory) and Alexis Moore. She leaves behind her grandchildren and the loves of her life; Presley, Olivia, London and Scarlett.

Kaelyn will be reunited with her “Daddy” Fred Smith, brother Darren Smith, nephews Hesston Smith and Trevor Tsosie.

Kaelyn will be missed beyond words and the position she held in so many lives will be impossible fill. She was tough and fought admirably.

A viewing will be held Monday, February 27, 2023 from 6pm to 8pm. Funeral services are Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at 11am with viewing one hour prior. Both will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S, Sandy, UT 84092. A zoom link will be provided by request for family and friends out of state.

Vanessa, Forrest, Angela and Alexis, I don't know what to say. As heartbroken as I am for this loss, I know your heartbreak is far more insurmountable. Kaelyn and I were so different, and had so little in common, but we quickly became good friends. Our souls seemed to speak with one another. She was always there for me, and I hope you can gain comfort believing that she is there with you now. Kaelyn was a wonderful influence in my life, and will continue to be. I am a better person because of her. From the time we met, she soon became my protector as I dealt with health issues. I hold your mom in the highest regard. Over the years, she became my best friend, and I'm sure there are many others who feel the same. What a wonderful soul she has. Your mom was very much loved, and I will always cherish her memory.

I'm sorry for your lost. I don't have that much to say but we have to look forward in life. One thing that my late dad or grandpa Fred Smith said you have to have precious memories. At that exact moment there right there beside you. Yes, it's hard but don't make it harder. I always remember my sister smile, joking, cussing and Laughing at the same time. I will never forget that. Especially watching her video saying ligma balls. Then she starts laughing. I and my twin girls laugh because those her own words that we laugh too. Now we tease each other saying that. Not all the time but we laughed. We were looking forward to see her again this summer. Before she passed she talked to me. At the end she always say I love you and the twin girls. Take good care of your precious babies. In return I always say I love you too sis. From the bottom of my heart I will miss her always. But have memories to laugh. Cry when I need to cry alone. I'm
100 percent you beautiful children will miss her dearly. Ooh yeah I cried this morning. But in my mind she said awww sweetheart don't cry. Do something but in a happy way. Here I am cleaning, talking to the cats and listening to the music. At the end I always have good memories of her. I love you and your family. My codelences go out to each one of you. Children, mom, brother and sisters. At the end cousins that were closed to her and best friends. We love you. From I and my twin girls jaralene and jaralena. RIP my beautiful sister. 😞🥹😥😥

- Terilene Gorman

So sorry to hear about Kaelyn. She was a terrific person who I was glad to know and was her softball coach years ago. She had a lot of support from a great family. I was unable to pay my respects due to health and work issues. RIP, Kaelyn.

“To live is the rarest thing in the World. Most people exist, that is all”.
Kaelyn was the epitome of this quote. She lived life to the fullest, smiling and laughing thru her adventures. I was lucky enough to be part of her world for awhile and I will cherish the memories forever. A lot of funny stories and kind gestures that will always mean the world to me.
My deepest condolences to Kaelyn’s Children and Family I will hold you in my heart and prayers
