Karen Dee Olson Cravens

1939 ~ 2021

Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to all, Karen Dee Olson Cravens, passed away on March 7, 2021 after a long, courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was born April 9, 1939 to Neal R. and Lorna W. Olson in Boise, Idaho. Karen married her sweetheart and the love of her life, Blaine L. Cravens on September 29, 1956. They were later sealed on April 29, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple, making their family an eternal one. They were blessed with 6 children; Donna (Jerry) Nelson, Mike (Terri), Pam Scheurich, Todd (JeanAnn), James (Tanner), and Scott. She loved her family more than anything.
Karen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Heavenly Father and loved serving Him. She served in many callings throughout her life in her various wards and stakes, as well as an ordinance worker with her husband in the Jordan River and St. George temples.
She was preceded in death by her parents, father-and mother-in-law Lloyd and Rhea Cravens and her brother Sam. She is survived by her husband and eternal companion of 64 years, her 6 children and their spouses, 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, her sister Sue Ann (Tom) McFarland, and brother Jon.
Due to Covid-19 we will be having a private family memorial service. A celebration of Karen’s life will be held at a later date.
Karen’s family would like to thank the staff, and especially her nurse Aubrey, at Harmony Home Health for the love and care they gave her. A special thank-you to her aide Becky who always treated her with love, kindness, and dignity.
We love you Mom and look forward to the day when we will all be together again.

Hi Blaine,
We are so sorry for the loss of your beloved Karen. You made such a beautiful couple and we always enjoyed our visits. She will be missed by everyone. Karen was always so sweet and always had a smile on her face. I know it is a difficult time for you and your family. You will always have the wonderful memories.

Love you Blaine and take care.

Karen was a kind, caring person who always went out of her way to help others. When we moved to White City in January 2001, she and Blaine, who lived on Poppy Lane then, went out of their way to welcome us to the neighborhood. Everyone in the neighborhood knew the Cravens and loved them, and we were all sad when they moved away. God bless all of you and your families.

I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Karen. She was a beloved sister of Sue Ann, my friend. I met Karen a few times and she was always kind, happy, and looked lovely!
May you be comforted knowing she is reunited with loved ones. 💗

Sue Ann, so sorry for the loss of your sister. She has the same youthful enthusiastic expression I remember you have each time I see or hear you. One can never know the challenge one faces when facing long term illness. May the Lord's choicest blessings comfort you & family. hr
