A beautiful light, the first love of our lives, Kathleen (Kathey) Rees Partridge, passed away on the morning of December 13th, 2022, at the age of 79 due to complications from dementia.

Born on February 3rd, 1943, Kathleen learned the art of motherhood from a true master of the craft, her own mother Faye, and carried this mantle until her final breath. Her last words to her children were, “I love you, too.” Kathleen excelled at motherhood and was a steadying foundation for our family. She took this compassion and care to her social work for the elderly in Spanish Fork, Utah and later served three LDS missions with her husband, Ken, at the Church Museum, the Church History Library, and “Orange Street Half-way House” for single mothers. Even as the disease advanced, her compassion and love for others was seen in giving, what most people described as, “the best hugs ever.”

A voracious reader, a whip-smart seamstress, an avid artist, and an enjoyable conversationalist, Kathleen loved to stay busy. She made clothes for herself, her husband, and children, painted for her family, and was always available as an empathetic ear for those in need.

After meeting Ken Partridge at a church dance and marrying him in May of 2000, Kathey was able to travel and enjoy other parts of the United States and world. They took a month-long trip to Australia, New Zealand, and Java; an Alaskan cruise with Ken’s brother, Dave, and wife, La Vonna; enjoyed the four corners area and a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon; and eventually, each other’s company in the comfort of their own home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken LaGrande Partridge, and both her parents, John Bult Rees and Faye Gransden Rees. She is survived by her first husband, Roy Lee Bryant, her children, Teresa Marie Tanner, John Wesley Bryant, Cherie Elizabeth Constance, and Royce Conan Bryant, her stepson, Thomas Partridge, her sisters Geraldine Johnson and Marilyn Williams, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, you will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff and residents of Oakridge Assisted Living in Bountiful, Utah and the nurses, aids, and chaplain of Envision Hospice and Visiting Angels. Thank you for your love, service, and dedication to our mom in her final year.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 11:00 a.m. at the Meadow Ward Chapel, 1955 West 400 North, Salt Lake City, Utah and a visitation right before will take place from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. A small celebration of life luncheon will be held immediately afterward, with the interment and dedication taking place at 1:30 p.m. at Larkin Sunset Gardens 1950 E. 10600 S, Sandy, UT.
