Kathleen Anderson Clark

1960 ~ 2024

Kathleen Anderson Clark passed away with her family by her side on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, of complications from pneumonia.

Kathy was born on November 14, 1960, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Ora Eva Yeaman Anderson and Otto Sherman Anderson. She was raised in Salt Lake until her mother’s passing in 1970 when she was then raised by her sister Kristine and brother-in-law Ken Willson. She attended Rosslyn Heights Elementary School in Salt Lake City, Centerville Junior High School, and Preston High School in Preston, Idaho (Yes, Napolean Dynamite’s school!). She then attended Boise State University, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and she got her first job after graduation teaching kindergarten in the Boise Idaho School District.

In the spring of 1983, she met Robert Clark at a church dance in Boise, which began a historic love story. They married on March 28, 1984, in the LDS Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Idaho Falls for the first year of their marriage where she taught 1st grade in Shelley, Idaho. In 1985, with a job transfer for Robert back to Salt Lake, they moved to the Avenues of Salt Lake City two weeks before their first child Elizabeth was born. They spent the next 36 years in the Avenues raising their three children: Elizabeth, Whitney, and Bentley.

Kathy was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1987, which became her challenge in life. One would never know or appreciate its effects on her as she never complained, was always beautiful and smiling, and maintained an incredibly optimistic and inspiring attitude. She was a friend to all who met her.

Kathy had a deep and abiding personal faith in and testimony of Jesus Christ. She was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, holding many positions in the Young Women’s organizations and supporting Robert in his callings.

Kathy is survived by her husband Robert and their three children: Elizabeth (Washinton, DC), Whitney (Sacramento, California), and Bentley (Taylorsville, Utah) and his wife Shelby and their two children Zuri Kathleen (3) and Rowan Taylor (1). Her family was the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister Kristine (Ken) Willson, her brother Paul (Barbara) Anderson, and her golden retriever Georgie. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bart Anderson, and her sister Karla Phelps. (And her dogs Sadie, Arty, and Rugger).

The family would also like to express deep and heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers, nurses, aides, doctors, therapists, neighbors, friends, and family who have attended to her and given her such great care over the years. Your kindnesses will always be remembered.

A Memorial Service to honor Kathy will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah, at 11:00 A.M. A visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M. and a reception to celebrate Kathy will begin right after the Memorial Service. The Memorial Service will also be streamed on Zoom for those wishing to view it remotely. (The Zoom link will be available on the Larkin Mortuary website: https://www.larkinmortuary.com/obituary).

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Companion Golden Retriever Rescue (slcgoldenrescue.org) or to the University of Utah Department of Neurology, Dr. John Rose, Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Research (https://ugive.app.utah.edu/designation/1222 or by mail: U of U Advancement Office, PO Box 58006 SLC, UT 84158.
