Kathleen Ann Stewart Jarvie

1952 ~ 2024

Listen to Previously Recorded Service

Kathleen Ann Stewart Jarvie, 71, of Draper, Utah, passed away at home on February 4, 2024, due to natural causes.

Kathi was born in Nampa, Idaho, on November 28, 1952, to Karl Jones (Jack) Stewart and Wilda Mae Johnson Stewart. She was the third child and first and only girl of the family and was welcomed home by two older brothers, Ron and Jim. Her baby brother, Ken, was born in 1955. The family resided in several small towns in southern Idaho until the late fifties when they moved to Twin Falls, Idaho where Kathi attended elementary school, junior high and high school. Kathi graduated from Twin Falls High School with the class of 1971.

Kathi went on to attend Ricks College for one year and then transferred to Brigham Young University in 1972. She made great friends at BYU and fulfilled her goal of graduating before marrying—by one week! She and her husband, Dave Jarvie, were married in the Salt Lake City Temple on May 6, 1976.

Kathi and Dave made homes in Utah while Dave finished his degree. They were blessed with two children: Amy Michelle was born in 1977 and Robert David in 1982. They spent time together taking care of pets, reading children's classics or watching old classic movies. Many memories were made on family trips to Disneyland or visiting grandparents in Utah and Idaho.

As she was raising her children Kathi worked as an elementary school teacher in districts in Utah, Reno, Nevada, and later Las Vegas. In 1999, she completed a Master's Degree in Education from Lesley University.

Kathi spent her off time devoted to her children and grandchildren. She attended school events, concerts, plays, and any other activity or program they were involved in. She loved her granddaughters and they loved "Nana".

Kathi loved music, reading, flowers, movies, art and animals. She inherited a love of gardening from her father.

In later years, Kathi and Dave moved back to Utah and spent their time together travelling and frequently visiting their children and grandchildren-when they weren't busy on construction projects on the Draper house.

Kathi was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in various positions in the Primary, Young Women's, and Relief Society Organizations. She put her heart and soul into every calling she had and loved getting to truly know and love the people she served.

Kathi was preceded in death by her father, Karl Stewart, and her mother Wilda Stewart, She is survived by her husband of 47 years David, children, Amy Knight (Gordon) and Robert Jarvie, and brothers Ron Stewart (Tracy), Jim Stewart (Pam), and Ken Stewart (Jan). She will be sorely missed by her four beloved granddaughters: Emma Knight, Elise Jarvie, Grace Knight, and Natalie Jarvie.

A Graveside Service will be held Friday February 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at Larkin Sunset Gardens located at 1950 E Dimple Dell Road in Sandy. A viewing will be held 1 hour prior to the service.

Guestbook/Condolences

My condolences to Kathy's family. She will be surely missed. Many fond memories have been shared in school and Kathy's sweet smile. Class of 1971 would not have been complete without her. May Heavenly Father comfort you at this time as you remember her life and fond memories. Namaste'

I met Kathie on a group trip to South East Asia some years ago. We kept in touch via FB as I live in the U.K. We are both retired educators. She talked about her husband, children, grandchildren and her values and beliefs with such a warm integrity and boundless love and pride. We discovered we had a common love of gardening. What a sad loss for all who loved her. She was an angel in human form. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to her family. She will be sadly missed by all she graced the lives of, including mine. I always had a hope I could meet her again possibly in her home town as she gave me an open invitation. Prayers for you all. Val 🙏❤️🙏
