Kathryn Hancock

1948 ~ 2022

Kathryn Holbrook Hancock passed away at her home on September 30, 2022. She was born March 30, 1948, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Von Garn Holbrook and Marjorie Berkin Sorenson. We rejoice to know she is reunited with so many family members including her husband, Ray, her parents and her brother, Berkin Holbrook. She is survived by her brother, Jon Holbrook, sister-in-law Bonnie Holbrook, niece Rosanna, nephew Chris and Ray’s children, Larry, Ron and Gary.

Kathryn’s whole life was drawn towards animals. There wasn’t an animal she couldn’t get along with. This love of animals led her to a passion of horses. Along with her husband , Kathy bred and raised champion halter horses, and became well known in the AQHA and APHA associations. Through her love of horses and showing, she made many friends that she considered family.

In lieu of flowers, it is kindly requested that donations be made to Best Friends Animals Sanctuary, a no-kill shelter for rescued domestic pets and farm animals in Kanab, Utah.

Graveside services and interments will take place at 1:30 PM on Friday, October 7, 2022 at the Redwood Memorial Cemetery, 6500 South Redwood Road in West Jordan, Utah.

Graveside services will be streamed via Zoom. You must have your own personal Zoom account. To join the stream, click the "Watch Services" link above.

Dear Kathy, family and friends. I recall going with you to stay with Aunt Tony along with the cousins to spend time at he. home in Provo and how she made us return the rod we caught to the exact location were we caught them in the gully behind Tony's home. Fourth of July pick nics at Uncle Garn's cabin and your dad always bringing the home made dynamite for all of us to try to blow things up. Just about blue us up as I recall. It has bee so great to reconnect with you these past few years. You always made melee so welcome.

Sending my thoughts, love and prayers to all of Kathy's family and close friends. She was always so wonderful to me and I bought and owned one of the horses she raised and he and I went on to win World Champion/Reserve World Champion titles in halter and he's sired many amazing foals . I still have his first daughter as my own broodmare. That stallion, KH Money Man, is still being shown, now under saddle, and going strong! Kathy left such a lasting legacy on the AQHA/APHA industry and she will be incredibly missed!

As cousins, Kathy, Jon, Clay and I got together often with our parents. Then in the past few years , Jon’ invited me several times to join he and Kathy for dinner at his residence. We enjoyed the time together and I’m very grateful that I could be a part of their life. I love Kathy and Jon dearly. Thank you for your hospitality.
Love,
Tony Glazier
