Kay Lorus Walker

Obituary Photo for Kay Lorus Walker < >

Kay Lorus Walker, my beloved and wonderfully eccentric father went home to be with the Lord. He was eager to catch up with those who preceded him, wife Nancy and son Andy.

He is survived by his brother Jerry and sisters Linda, and Sandra who took wonderful care of him in his later years. He also Leaves his son Matt (Sarah) and grandkids Maren, Eli, Tim, Jordan, Townsend, Henry and George.

He was a firebrand when he was young. In his later years, a kind, lovable scooter jockey who could spin wonderous yarns about his past. He served his country in the army, and had an amazing life. He was that ‘geezer’, as he’d call himself, who would move too slow on the road and in line, but irritated worker bees must remember that these ‘geezers’ are a blessed link to an increasingly forgotten heritage, when most still had to milk a cow and use an outhouse.

We will all miss you deeply, especially as the world you leave behind keeps getting crazier. But we will see you again soon enough, in our Lord Jesus Christ.

Current conditions have rendered a traditional funeral as a non-option. In lieu of this, say a prayer, donate to a favorite charity, or just raise a drink and remember him.

You will be missed...you and your wonderful family were a big part of our lives when our kids were growing up. My husband, Kent, had many, many wonderful times growing up with you and riding to the U of U with you and the gang....thank you for all the awesome memories...the Hyde's will love you and your family forever! Love to the Walker's, Dianne Hyde

I knew Kay from Kearns Jr. High. Kay, Ross Borders and myself had a lot of laughs. Until the virus a group of us would meet every two weeks for breakfast. Kay was always upbeat, he never complained. He got a big kick out of playing the devil's advocate when it came to politics; he will be sadly missed.

Kay was a wonderful father, a loving husband and the best grandfather anybody could ever have. We were very lucky to have him in our lives and he will be terribly, terribly missed.

Matt and family, I was so sorry to hear about Kay. We had many great times at Kearns Jr. and Jefferson Jr, especially with Kathy Starbuck in the mix. I'm sure the two of them are raising a glass of their own on the other side. The world has lost a special man. Bud Strong

Jim knew Kay from Kearns Junior. I made his acquaintance when I opened Jefferson Junior and he was media coordinator. Jim preceded Kay on January 26. They were two fine men in the junior high ranks. My condolences to you.

Kay was frequently the “Devil’s Advocate” at our breakfast gatherings. He was one of the good guys and we will miss him. A lot!

Today is Kay’s birthday, and I was saddened to see he had passed last year. Kay and Nancy treated me like one of their own, and I’m forever grateful to them for taking me in and showing such kindness when I needed it.
You were a blessing to me, and will be massively missed.
Much love,
b.
