Obituary Photo for Kenneth Ray Brown < >

Kenneth Ray Brown, 71, passed away peacefully on Friday August 25, 2023, surrounded by loved ones at home in Bluffdale, UT. Ken was born in Salt Lake City, UT on September 2nd, 1951, to Calvin Dale and Laura Lenore Brown.

As a boy, Ken loved spending time in his family's business, Cal Brown Body Shop. Ken graduated from West High School in 1969. After graduation Ken, his father and brother worked together providing auto-body and towing services in the Salt Lake Valley. In 1977, Ken married Francie McMillan and had a son and though they later divorced, they always remained close friends. Later, Ken shared his love of the family business with his son, Kendal.

Grandfather, father, and son were able to work side by side for many years. When Ken's father passed, Ken and Kendal continued to run the business together. Even late in life and up until his passing, Ken loved going to the shop and spending time with his son, whom he affectionately called "My Boy". Over the years, Ken built lasting friendships with those he worked with, particularly local law enforcement. He deeply valued all the friendships he made. Ken also enjoyed restoring old vehicles, hunting, and camping trips with his son. He loved the days he was surrounded by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, especially his little buddy, Tommy. Ken was known for having the best stories to tell and we will miss them dearly.

Ken spent his last few weeks with his son, granddaughter and their families doing what they did best. Their love was different! It wasn’t what you would expect as a close family bond. If we aren’t giving each other hell, we must be doing something wrong. That’s the unique love and bond Ken shared with his family.

Ken is survived by his son Kendal (Crystal) Brown, his grandchildren Larissa (Evan), Randall (Mary), Kyra, Derek, and Dillan. His great grandchildren Oakley, Weston, Tommy, Journey, and Hazel. Ken is also survived by his siblings, Tom (Nancy) and Jane (Andy).

Ken was preceded in death by both parents Calvin and Lenore Brown.

A special thank you to all the health care professionals with Inspiration Home Health and Hospice, who kept him comfortable throughout his trying times. He received exceptional care, and the family is grateful for their assistance which allowed Ken to pass comfortably in his home. Rest in Peace, Ken.
