Our loving Dad, husband, grandpa, great grandpa, and best friend left us on April 27, 2023. Throughout his life he maintained his peaceful, patient demeanor, his value in family and his faith and love for his Heavenly Father.
Kent was born on July 8, 1934, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Franklin B. Merrill and Dolores G. Merrill. He graduated in 1952 from East High School and later graduated from the University of Utah with a Bachelor's degree.
On June 11, 1958, Kent and Judith B. Merrill were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. They were blessed with a loving and caring family who survived them which include; Mark, Kevin, Matt and Lisa (Brent) Hogan, thirteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his Sister Janet (Leroy) Datwyler and his Sister-in-Law, Donna Merrill. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob, and his beloved wife Judy.
Kent worked as a construction estimator and project manager throughout his professional career and instilled an incredible work ethic in his children. He also served in the Army ROTC at the University of Utah. His church service and especially his time as an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple were among his most cherished memories. He was a loving and supportive father who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to the neighbors, friends, loved ones and medical caregivers for making the last few months of his life as comfortable as possible.
A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road, Sandy, Utah 84092.
