Kirk Thomas was born on March 25, 1963, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Jay Cee and Hazel Jean Thomas. A man of love, kindness, and compassion. Kirk passed from this life on January 31, 2023, in Grapeland, Texas.
Kirk was raised in Salt Lake City with a large, loving family. He joined the United States Coast Guard as a Gunner’s Mate after graduating from Highland High School. He continued his education and earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice. His lifelong dream was realized when he became a police officer serving the people. He began his career with the North Salt Lake Police Department and on July 5, 1989, joined the Dallas Police Department in Texas. He was a servant in every sense of the word and loved every second of it. He served with pride and honor until his retirement as a Sergeant in July 2016. Kirk is remembered by many as treating the officers he trained and served with like family, with love and with patience.
Kirk married Cindy Northcutt July 25, 2009, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Their marriage journey lasted until his passing. They made a lifetime of memories and had many adventures traveling all over the United States in their RV. In 2017, they purchased a small farm in Grapeland, Texas where Kirk truly learned to be a "country boy". They had a wonderful and very blessed life together. He was a talented cook, loved being outside with nature, and working in his garden.
He is preceded in death by his father, Jay Cee Thomas. He is survived by his wife, Cindy Thomas, his mother, Jean Thomas, siblings Kevin Thomas (Mary), Kelly Thomas (Malinda), Kyle Thomas (Andrea), Kayla Doud (John), as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, and cousins.
