Evelyn Louise Herzog was born July 21, 1947 in Collbran, CO to Collena Elsberry and William Reed. She was one of 6 siblings. She attended Window Rock High School in Fort Defiance, AZ and was always known as "sweet." She was indeed a sweet, loving, fun and appreciative person.
She worked briefly as a stewardess for Western Airlines - she loved to fly and being a stewardess was her greatest goal. She met and married Keith Herzog, quit her job and moved to Salt Lake City where they lived life in a big way - golfed, sailed the lakes, had a cabin boat and sail boat, partied for special occasions, and loved to decorate for Christmas. They loved sports cars and even had his and hers matching cars.
Evelyn lived in the same house for over 40 years - watching the neighborhood kids grow up and become parents themselves. Due to Rheumatic fever that she had as a child and that took a toll on her health, she was unable to have children.
She worked over 30 years for Jones, Waldo and Holbrook Law Firm - being the "voice" of the firm. She was known and loved by her colleagues and she loved working there.
After retirement she enjoyed hiking and traveling until her health deteriorated and she could no longer do the things she loved to do.
Evelyn passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019. She is now free of suffering and declining health. The response to the notice of her death confirms that she will be missed by many people of all types. Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents and Keith.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am July 17, 2019 at Larkin Sunset Lawn Mortuary, 2530 East 1300 South, Salt Lake City. A viewing will be at 9:00 am just before the service. Interment to follow the funeral.
Special thanks to the many close friends, neighbors, relatives, doctors (especially Dr. Kate Wilson) and nurses for their love and support as they served Evelyn. Many thanks to Ken Wilson, Evelyn's great friend from high school.
