An angel has left our midst; she departed this world September 25, 2014. Maria was born on September 14, 1932 in Eichstatt, Bavaria to Friderich and Maria Elizabeth Lehmeyer Rehn, the oldest of 10 children. She played on the hills of a castle as a child and would gather violets from the road. As a young girl, Maria learned to sew and made it her livelihood. Her love of music brought her into the LDS Church as a teenager and her faith endured throughout her life. She married Gottfried Leyer in 1950 and had 2 children while in Germany - Peter (Janine) Leyer and Gottfried (Earlynn) Leyer. She was able to fulfill her lifelong dream and traveled by boat to America in the 1950\s. After they arrived, they spent several days on a bus to make it to Utah where the beginning of life for our family in America began. Here they kept the family growing with 4 more children - Heidi Richardson, David (Karen) Leyer, Eva Leyer, and Andrew (Roxanne) Leyer. Maria later married Remmelt TenWolde, who preceded her in death. Maria has 20 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren whom she loved and cared for the rest of her years. She was loved by all who knew her and will be dearly missed. "Bis wir uns wiedersehen.."
