Kwan Ngan Lui

1924 ~ 2023

Kwan Ngan Lui peacefully passed from this Life on May 15, 2023, in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 99. Born on January 14, 1924, in Indonesia, she migrated to China when she was one year old. At the age of 23, she married her late husband, King Lui. In October 1979, they immigrated to the United States with their children. Kwan and her family settled in Salt Lake City, Utah, where she worked as a kitchen helper until retirement.

Though Kwan valued and found joy in many things in life, there were two things in life that Kwan truly loved: gardening and family. She would spend hours in the garden, growing endless vegetables and fruits. Kwan valued family, centering her life on being a loving wife, caring mother, and attentive grandmother, and recognized the importance of passing traditions on to her children and grandchildren.

Kwan was preceded in death by her beloved husband, King, who passed in July of 1991. She is survived by her 3 children, James Gee Pur (Wai Fong) Lui, Yee Ming (Mun King) Liu, Lian Mei (Bin Liang Xu) Lei; 8 grandchildren, Anita (Gabriel Pereira das Neves) Lui, Bianca (Robert Sargent) Lui-Sargent, Brandon Lui, William Liu, Yu Yun Xu, and Yu Cui Xu, and 3 great-grandchildren Charles Pereira das Neves, Rowen Sargent, and Ender Sargent.
