Joanne Nordquist Johnson of Bountiful, Utah died from a stroke Thursday, November 10, 2016 at the age of 83. She was born in Salt Lake City February 23, 1933 to Adelaide and Martin Nordquist. She was a devoted daughter, spending time with her mother daily until her passing in 1984. Joanne graduated South High School in 1951 where she had made life-long friendships. She and her girl friends have met monthly since graduation. She married her sweetheart, DeLamar (De), June 16, 1951 and celebrated their 65th anniversary this summer.
Joanne was a stenographer until the birth of her first son, Bryce, in 1960. Her second son, Paul, was born in 1963. She was a dedicated mother, homemaker, and an expert cook. She enjoyed playing tennis, golfing, and skiing. She loved to be involved with all the activities of her family including camping, "jeeping," flying, and travelling. For the past 25 years, Joanne especially enjoyed vintage car touring and the special friendships that she made in the VMCCA. She loved people. Joanne enjoyed entertaining friends and family, all of whom loved her cooking.
Joanee is survived by her husband of 65 years, DeLamar, her sons Bryce and Paul (Clare), grandchildren Chelsey and Jake, and great-grandsons Carter and Chase.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Salt Lake City. Visitations will be held at 10 a.m. prior to the service and Tuesday, November 15, 6-8 p.m.
