Gregory Kent Lunkwitz

1957 ~ 2017

Gregory Kent Lunkwitz, a long-time resident of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Riverton, Utah on June 11th, 2017. Greg graduated from Bingham High School in 1976 and lived an active life where he enjoyed football, wrestling, skiing, and all outdoor activities. He then began a career in the trucking industry, started a family, and had two sons, Paul and Kevin Lunkwitz. Greg became an owner/operator of his company, Lunkwitz Transportation, Inc., in 1983. A "trucker" at heart, he built his company from the ground up to amass 20 trucks, 22 employees, and 34 successful years of operation. Greg married the love of his life, his princess, Michelle. They spent their married years doing the things he loved most: traveling, riding Harleys, spending time with their family, spending winters in their beloved motorhome in Yuma, Arizona, and experiencing life to the fullest. Greg also loved country music, cowboy boots, and guns. Greg will always be remembered for his ear-to-ear smile, his extraordinary work ethic, and his generosity.

Greg's mother, Lois Lunkwitz, preceded him in death. Greg is survived by his wife, Michelle; his two sons, Paul and Kevin; his two stepsons, Brandon and Tyler Hawkins; his grandchildren, Alexis, Savannah, Logan, Lincoln, and Ryker; his father, Robert Best, and his wife, Gay; his dad Floyd Lunkwitz, and his wife, Pauline; his half-siblings, Cindy French, Holly Walker, Kim Best, and Natalie Smith; and extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Utah Trucking Association Building at 4183 West 2100 South, West Valley City, Utah, 84120 on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Lunch will be served. Wear your favorite cowboy boots and a smile. Online condolences:www.larkincares.com
