Obituary

Landon James Dutson

January 20, 2010 - October 20, 2026

Landon James Dutson, beloved son, brother, grandson, and friend, passed away on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the age of 16.

While visiting family in Arkansas, he had an unfortunate tree-cutting accident that took his life. We were told he didn’t experience any pain and went peacefully.

Landon was born on Wednesday, January 20, 2010, in Orem, Utah, to Nicholas Wayne Dutson and Jodie Wheeler Dutson. Weighing 8 pounds, 3 ounces at birth, Landon was the happiest, chunkiest baby.

As he grew up, Landon felt most at home in the mountains. Whether fishing in Alaska, hiking, skiing, or riding his mountain bike, he loved being outdoors. Mountain biking became more than just a hobby. It was his passion and his therapy, giving him a place to clear his mind, challenge himself, and push his limits. He treasured the friendships he made through his mountain bike teams and was always looking for ways to become a stronger, faster rider.

Some of Landon's favorite times were spent with family and friends. He especially enjoyed riding four-wheelers, ATVs, and dirt bikes with his younger brother, Camden, and the rest of the family. He also loved traveling and exploring new places, with family vacations taking him to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Hawaii, and Costa Rica.

Whether he was racing down a mountain trail or discovering somewhere new, Landon embraced life with curiosity, determination, and a love for adventure.

Landon had a fun-loving, mischievous personality and loved playing pranks on his friends and family. He was competitive, determined, and always up for a challenge. He also had a thoughtful and caring heart. He remembered special occasions, put genuine effort into choosing gifts for those he loved, and found quiet ways to show kindness to others.

Landon attended Foothills Elementary, South Hills Middle School, and was a Junior at Mountain Ridge High School, in Herriman, UT. He participated in the Chinese Dual Language Immersion program beginning in first grade and was proud of his academic accomplishments, including passing his AP Chinese exam. He set high expectations for himself and worked hard toward the goals he wanted to achieve.

Landon was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His faith was a large part of his life and he enjoyed blessing the sacrament as a Priest every week. He had a desire to serve a full-time mission in hopes of utilizing the Chinese language he worked so hard to learn.

Although his time here was far too short, Landon filled his 16 years with adventure, laughter, friendships, and love. He will be remembered for his adventurous spirit, his determination, his playful sense of humor, and the thoughtful ways he cared for those around him.

His family will forever cherish the memories they made together and the joy he brought into their lives. His love of the mountains, his enthusiasm for life's adventures, and the impact he made on those who knew him will never be forgotten.

Landon is survived by: His parents-Nicholas & Jodie, his brother-Camden, his maternal grandparents-James & Rosalie Wheeler, and his paternal grandparents - Wayne & Lana Dutson and all those who loved him.
