Laurie Fern Mower (born Swanson), 41, passed away suddenly but peacefully at her home on Friday, February 6, 2026. Born on September 10, 1984, in Walnut Creek, California, Laurie grew up in Sandy, Utah, surrounded by her big, boisterous family. Being the youngest, Laurie learned early how to make a room feel alive. Holidays were her favorite—gathering everyone together, her laughter always the loudest. She was known for her strong work ethic and inquisitive nature.
She and Kerry Mower brought their sweet son George into the world, and from that moment, he was her everything. Even after the marriage ended, George stayed at the absolute center of her universe—her first thought in the morning, her plus-one for every adventure, her reason to keep smiling through anything.
Laurie is survived by her parents, Sally and Kevin; her siblings Jennifer (Elton), Jared (Danielle), Brian (Melanie), David (Amanda), and Sarah (Cody), who shared countless memories and laughs with her; and above all, her son George, who she adored beyond words. She was the best aunt—silly, doting, always ready to play, making every niece and nephew feel so special.
Funeral services will be held February 18, at the Crescent Ridge 4th ward, at 11:00 am (1265 E 11000 S in Sandy Utah). The family finds solace in knowing Laurie is now free from pain and earthly struggles, embraced by her grandparents that went before. But oh, how deeply we miss her—the laugh, the warm heart, her perpetual optimism. She will live on in George, in every story we tell, and in the love she gave so freely.

Sending love to everyone affected by Laurie’s passing. She was a bright light in my life for many years. I am not sure I would have made it through those later teen years without her. She will be missed.
