Glenn Mann Winegar

1912 ~ 2017

Glenn Mann Winegar passed away Thursday, February 2, 2017 at the age of 104, at his home in Sandy, Utah surrounded by his family. Glenn was born August 4, 1912 in Woods Cross, Utah, the fourth of nine children born to Clarence and Sylvia Winegar. Glenn spent his early years in Woods Cross and then the family moved to Wendell, Idaho where he graduated from Wendell High School. He went to the Moeller Barber School in 1936 and then began his career as a barber, retiring from Glenn's Barber shop on 6th Avenue and E Street in 1985.

Glenn was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the US Navy Sea Bees in the Aleutian Islands and Point Barrow, Alaska. After the war, he met Jennis Williams Mason and they were married on June 4, 1949 in Elko, Nevada. He was a wonderful father to her children Diane and Douglas, whom he loved as his own. His twin daughters Kayla and Karla were born in 1951. They were the joy of his life. They were sealed as an eternal family July 1, 1954 in the Salt Lake Temple.

Glenn spent his life serving others. The most important thing to him was family. He is survived by his daughters Kayla (Allen) Shupe, Karla (Kelly) Wall, and youngest sister Arlene Briggs. His posterity includes 14 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 29 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Jennis, his parents, sisters and brothers, step-children Diane and Douglas and several grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Midvalley 5th Ward Chapel, 1211 East 7800 South, Sandy, Utah. Friends may call on Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East Dimple Dell Road (10600 South) in Sandy and on Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery.
