Janice McCune Romney

1926 ~ 2014

Well, I finally get to use the Christmas gift my foresighted and perceptive husband of over 67+ years bought me in 1950 - my burial lot at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

My name is Janice McCune Romney. I was born a bright blue-eyed redhead in Salt Lake City on January 20, 1926 to Maud Moyle and Paul Jones McCune. Being an only surviving child, I was surrounded with humor, kindness and love resulting in treasured memories of my caring and devoted parents, grandmothers, aunts, uncles and beloved cousins. I married the love of my life, Melbourne Romney, Jr. in 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. We had 4 children, Melbourne "Tres" (Karen), Paula McCune Romney (Hal Farr), Antoine Moyle (Cleone) and Rosslyn Hope (deceased). We have 11 grandchildren and at present 19 great-grandchildren. While growing up in Salt Lake, it was my good fortune to attend Irving Junior High, East High, and graduating with honors from the University of Utah in 1947. While at the \"U\", I was a member of many student organizations including ASUU, Mortar Board, Phi Kappa Phi, Beehive Honor Society and my favorite, Kappa Kappa Gamma. It was here that I met many cherished and lifelong friends. I have loved my association with these remarkable women for over 70+ years. From 1960 until 1989, I worked alongside Melbourne Jr. as a partner of Romney's Gift Tree. We loved traveling the world, buying unique gifts for the store and spending time for devoted customers. It was always fun to see what fresh design or imaginative idea we would have for every season of each new year. My life has brought me some sorrow, but much more happiness and joy. I have been very lucky to have been so blessed. I love my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints. I am looking forward to eternally reuniting with my sweetheart Bourne once more. Until we meet again, "You dream of me dear and I'll dream of you."

Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her brother and daughter - Hope.
