Leda Elial Coleman Banford

Leda Elial Coleman Banford, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on August 24, 2024, from Alzheimer's. All her children had the privilege of being by her side as she passed.

Leda was born on April 15, 1937, in Paul, Idaho, to Edward and Elial (Lila) Coleman. She was a special joy to her family because she arrived on her mother's birthday, and she was the only daughter of six children. She met John Lynn Banford (Lynn), her eternal companion and love of her life, in 1956. They were set up on a blind date by her very inspired cousin. They were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 6, 1957, and enjoyed a loving marriage until Lynn's untimely passing in 1981. At the age of 43, Leda faced widowhood with resilience and continued to raise their seven children with unwavering dedication.

Leda was immensely proud of simultaneously graduating from high school and earning her LPN certificate.

She is survived by her seven children: Sheri Thomassen, Lynda Azevedo, Lori Marler (Dennis), Staci Albrecht (Keven), Gary Banford (Holly), Becki Jenkins (Chris), and Kerri Steele (Brett). Her legacy includes 31 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren on the way. Leda is also survived by two brothers, Larry Coleman (Charlotte) and Ronald Coleman (Kris). She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers— Clarance Coleman, Veldon Coleman Sr., and Ardell Coleman—and daughter-in-law Tammy Banford.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to her caregivers Gloria, Earlene, Linette, and the IHC hospice team for their compassionate support.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday August 31, 2024, at 11:00 am with a viewing prior to the service from 9:30 am to 10:30 am. There will also be a viewing on Friday August 30, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Both the service and the viewings will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church building located at 1050 E Galena Dr, Sandy UT 84094. Interment at Larkin Sunset Gardens, located at 1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd (10600 S) Sandy, UT 84092.
