Susan Georgina Coons Horne

1955 ~ 2016

Susan Georgina Coons Horne was born May 20th, 1955. She passed away November 26th, 2016 of cancer. Susan had a happy childhood surrounded by good parents, brothers and friends. She graduated from Skyline High School, and went on to graduate from BYU with a nursing degree. She always loved serving others, and the association she had with them throughout her life. On August 6th, 1976 she married Daniel Robert Horne in the Salt Lake Temple. The next year they moved to Sandy and enjoyed living there raising their four beautiful children.

Susan loved gardening and enjoyed spending time in her own garden as well as serving as a garden guide in Temple Square. She also spent countless hours helping others in their gardens. She loved being in nature and especially camping with her children and extended family, but her favorite place to go was Disneyland. Susan loved being an active member of her church and served in numerous ward and stake callings and was extremely dedicated to anything she was called to do. Susan loved crafts, and loved helping with Saturday craft fairs. She enjoyed decorating for every season. She also loved listening to beautiful music; it brought peace to her soul.

Once in a while Susan would get the chance to travel. She loved all of Utah, as well as other places in the United States. She also enjoyed Canada, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and the Holy Land.

Susan is survived by her husband; Daniel R. Horne, parents; Brozell and Georgina Coons, brothers; Stephen (Teresa), Michael (Julie), Christopher (Tami), Courtland (Karen), her four children; Todd (Rebecca), Brittany, Tyler, Weston (Michelle), as well as six grandchildren; Kayla, Rachel, Cameron, Savannah, Christina, and Daniel.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 30th at 11:00am at the Londonderry Ward Building, 11164 Londonderry Dr., Sandy. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6-8pm at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E Dimple Dell Rd. (10600 S.) Sandy, and also from 9:30-10:40am on Wednesday prior to the service at the church.
