Linda Fisher Engar, a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, and selfless servant, passed away peacefully on February 24, 2025 in St. George, UT. She was born on December 10, 1947, in Salt Lake City, UT, to Calvin Weaver Fisher and Alice Empey Fisher. She was preceded in death by her parents, parents-in-law, and brother.
Linda attended Brigham Young University, where she met and married, J. Gordon Engar. Together, they built a home filled with love, faith, and service, raising eight children and later welcoming 15 grandchildren.
Linda was a beacon of generosity and kindness. She found joy in giving, whether it was a thoughtful gift, a helping hand, a reassuring word, or she found a good deal. Always eager to serve, she was the first to volunteer—sometimes offering herself and sometimes recruiting her children for the cause. Her unwavering example of selflessness and compassion touched the lives of countless friends, family members, and strangers alike.
Linda's creativity shone through effortlessly in her sewing, furniture refinishing, and various projects. She discovered a passion for quilting and invested in a quilting machine, turning it into a thriving business that connected her with loyal clients who became cherished friends. Ensuring that people could afford and cherish beautiful quilts for generations was her top priority. When she could no longer use the machine herself, she generously donated it so others could continue to quilt.
Linda's 2019 stroke left her with right-side semi-paralysis and aphasia. While she could understand what people were saying, she struggled to communicate her own thoughts. Though she could no longer speak or write, Linda remained expressive through her facial expressions and attempts at charades.
The stroke brought out the best in Linda's personality. She gained patience for herself and others, learned to slow down and relax, and embraced the gift of allowing others to care for her, just as she had always done for them. Without words, Linda could still powerfully convey the deep love she had for her family and friends.
Linda will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and the many lives she touched. She leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and faith that will continue to inspire all who knew her. She is survived by her beloved husband, J. Gordon Engar, their children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews and countless other family members.

Condolences from my family to yours. May God bless you with comfort in this time of loss.
We loved having the opportunity to work with Linda, she was a joy to be around. We are so very sorry for your loss.
What a blessing it has been for me to know Linda for almost five years! We've spent time together worshipping in the temple, going on walks through the park, eating out at restaurants, sitting together in Relief Society, and chatting in her home. Her physical challenges since her stroke were great! The most difficult thing for her was not being able to communicate everything that was on her mind. Through all of her trials I still felt her love for me and my family and her faith in Jesus Christ. I was so impressed with Gordon's 100% commitment to the care of his wife. Through everything Gordon has been true and faithful to his covenants with God and his eternal companion. I pray that Gordon and all others who have known Linda will be blessed with peace and a deeper understanding of God's plan of happiness for His children.
