Linda Madge Robison passed away peacefully in her sleep on December 21, 2025, at the age of 80, leaving behind a life rich with independence, quiet strength, and deep devotion to family.

Linda was born April 4, 1945, in Salt Lake City (Taylorsville), Utah, to Russell Richard Robison and Madge Elizabeth Rockhill Robison. She was the youngest of four children in a close-knit family and spent her childhood on the Robison family farm along 4800 South and the Jordan River—land that shaped her lifelong love of the outdoors and her steady, self-reliant spirit.

From the very beginning, Linda’s determination was evident. Her mother fondly recalled her as a “little sharpie,” always kicking her legs to keep the rocking chair moving. As a girl, Linda embraced a tomboy spirit, finding joy in horseback riding, fishing alongside her father, Russ, and competing confidently in sports. In the 1960s, she persuaded her parents to build a swimming pool, which became a cherished gathering place for Scouts, Beehives, and ward families, even though Linda herself was more often found at ballgames or riding horses.

When Linda was just five years old, the family experienced the heartbreaking loss of her eldest brother, Keith, in a plane accident. Though she rarely spoke of it, that early loss shaped her with resilience, compassion, and quiet inner strength.

Linda excelled both academically and athletically, graduating from Granger High School in 1963. She went on to attend the University of Utah, where she earned a bachelor’s degree. She carried that same determination into adulthood, building a career that reflected her confidence and capability. Linda worked part-time security at Sears during college and later in law enforcement, becoming the first female deputy sheriff in the state of Utah. She earned the respect of her colleagues through professionalism, calm resolve, and remarkable skill, consistently winning shooting and driving competitions.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Linda remained active in competitive bowling and softball leagues. Her love for animals was evident in the care she gave her pets and in the devotion she showed while caring for her parents’ beloved cat, Skeeziks, during their travels. An avid outdoorswoman, Linda especially cherished time on the water. She owned ski boats, a fishing boat, and a houseboat that she kept at Lake Powell for many years, creating countless memories with family and friends. In later years, she found pleasure in fishing, shooting pool, and tending a vegetable garden she lovingly maintained nearly to the end of her life.

Linda came from strong pioneer heritage, with ancestors who crossed the plains into Utah, and she carried those values—independence, honesty, resilience, and loyalty—throughout her life. She appreciated life’s simple joys: snowy days admired from the window, familiar family dinners at Duff’s, handwritten letters from her mother, and weekly lunches at Little America with her brothers and their spouses.

Family was always at the center of Linda’s life. She remained closely connected to her Taylorsville roots and treasured time spent with her older brothers families and then nieces and nephews, sharing stories, laughter, and memories that will continue to be cherished.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Russell “Russ” Robison (1996) and Madge Elizabeth Rockhill Robison (1989); her brothers Keith Russell Robison (1951), Robert Rockhill Robison (2018), and Richard William Robison (2024); and her sisters-in-law Betty Robison (1989, Keith) and Carol Robison (2005, Robert); and niece Jeannette, and nephew Gary, and grand-nephew Tanner.

Linda is survived by her sister-in-law Carolyn (Richard) Robison; twelve nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

A viewing will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026 at Larkin Sunset Gardens Mortuary (1950 E. Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, UT), followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place at Wasatch Lawn Cemetery.

It was such a pleasure becoming Linda’s best friend at Cottonwood Creek. Linda and I clicked almost instantly. One of the things that truly brought us close was putting together her new Jazzy. I kept telling her we might get in trouble and should wait for Russell, but Linda’s excitement for her newest toy was contagious—and it made me excited too. So together, we put it together and had so much fun.

We shared many wonderful moments doing crafts, painting, getting our nails done, and going on outings. I have so many beautiful pictures and memories with her that I will always cherish. I miss her like crazy, and I am so incredibly grateful to have been a part of the end of her life.

I love you, Linda.

I was very sad to read about Linda’s passing. I had not seen her in a number of years. I made a few trips to Lake Powell with her. She was fun to be around. My deepest condolences to her family.
