Listen to Obituary
Linda Pauline Merrill Crapo returned home to her Heavenly Father on Friday March 27, 2026. She was 81 years old. We lovingly remember her for her vibrant life and not just her final battle with Alzheimer’s. Linda was born on August 23, 1944 in Murray Utah, to Wilbur and Phyllis Merrill. Linda was the third of four children; siblings Donna, Richard and Rebecca.
She lived in Cottonwood, Utah until her family moved to Elko, Nevada in October 1952 when she was eight years old. Linda suffered from scoliosis due to having Polio as a child, but she didn’t let that stop her from doing things she loved. In her youth she enjoyed Girl Scouts, singing, dancing, painting, sewing and all sorts of school and church activities. In February 1960 she sang with her high school glee club at the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley. After graduating from Elko High School in 1962 she worked as a long distance telephone operator for a few years. In 1967 she was crowned Miss Elko County. That title also included a college scholarship where she took some classes that she loved including shorthand, oil painting and modeling.
She married Paul Howard Crapo on June 7, 1968 in the Salt Lake Temple. They lived in Alhambra, California then Las Vegas, Nevada before moving to Sandy, Utah where they have lived since December 1979. Paul and Linda have six children, David, Alan, Daniel, Nathan, Kristi and Michael.
Linda had a deep love for family history and spent countless hours of her life doing family history work. Among her favorite church callings were Family History Coordinator and Cub Scout Leader. She loved planting flowers, fruits and vegetables in the spring and tending to her gardens throughout the summer. She loved to paint, sew, cook, read, and sing but most of all she loved to spend time with her family. Linda was a proud member of The Daughter’s of Utah Pioneers and very much enjoyed her DUP meetings and activities.
Linda is survived by her husband Paul; her children Alan, Nathan (Emilee), Kristi, and Michael; her seven grandchildren that she adored, Kaylee, Ethan, David, Owen, Austin, Clara and Preston; and her siblings Richard (Janet) and Rebecca (Jim). Linda is preceded in death by her sons David and Daniel, her parents, and her sister Donna (Bill). Linda was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and had an unwavering testimony of her Savior.
