Linda Hokanson, our loving wife, mother, grandma, and friend passed away unexpectedly while recovering from recent surgery April 11, 2026 in Sandy, Utah.
Born in Salt Lake City, Utah January 4, 1950 to Vean and Ella Clark. Linda was the youngest of four siblings Gary, Jack, and Nancy. She grew up in Midvale, Utah and was a proud Hillcrest Husky graduate. Linda met the love of her life at South Seas in Midvale, Utah, Norman Hokanson. They married March 18, 1972 in Holladay. Linda and Norm raised their three boys in Sandy, Utah.
While being a busy mom of boys, Linda pursued a degree in Elementary Education from the University of Utah and later earned a Master’s Degree in Education. Linda was a kind and caring teacher at Edgemont Elementary, where she taught grades third through sixth. Linda retired after teaching for thirty years and has been enjoying retirement ever since!
Linda enjoyed playing tennis in her younger years, fishing, golf, and going on road trips and Sunday drives with Norm in more recent years. Linda had many lifelong friends who she enjoyed golfing, going on trips, and meeting often for lunch and lots of laughs with. Most of all Linda was a planner! She loved creating fun memories for family and her five grandsons; from family game nights, to her annual Christmas Eve present game, scavenger hunts for Easter, a family time capsule, and family golf tournaments. Norm and her family are her pride and joy, she will be deeply missed.
Linda is survived by her husband Norm Hokanson; her sons Eric (Jami), Andy (Sandy), and her Grandsons Joey, Owen, Gabe and Mason and Jaxon who are missing her greatly. Linda was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her oldest son Judd Clark Hokanson.
A private burial for immediate family will be held Friday, April 17th, 2026. We would like to invite all of Linda’s extended family, friends, and neighbors to a Celebration of Life Open House on Saturday, April 18th, 2026, 11am-1pm, at Larkin Le Jardin in Sandy, Utah (1910 E. Dimple Dell Rd, Sandy, Utah).
In lieu of flowers please donate to the Utah Food Bank and/or read a book to a child.
Ahh Linda your laugh was contagious. You always brought the fun to everything.
You and Norm have created a tight, loving family, that is such an accomplishment.
Thank you for helping me through my teenage years. Your guidance helped me navigate some rough patches.
You will be so missed.
So sorry to hear of your passing. You were such a kind woman always smiling. Enjoyed our talks and helping you in your journey.
So sorry to the whole family . I never knew her but sounds like she was a wonderful person. God bless her.

We send our heartfelt condolences to Linda's husband, and all her family. Thank you for sharing Linda with us for so many years at Edgemont Elementary School. All 5 of our children had Mrs. Hokanson for their teacher.
She was such a loving, joyful part of their elementary experience. She had a gift for making each child feel important and valued. She played key roles, especially in our sons' lives. Mrs. Hokanson was always regarded as their FAVORITE teacher!!!
Reading her obituary today helped me to understand. Her 3 sons, and then all those amazing grandsons, she truly understood boys, and loved them.
My sons needed her influence, and we will ever be grateful for our FAVORITE teacher at Edgemont, Mrs. Hodanson!!!
I was Linda’s esthetician. Over the past at least 10 years I have gotten to know and love Linda. I am so thankful for her friendship and loyalty to me at Sego Lily Spa over the years. I looked forward to each and every time I got to pamper her. She loved her monthly facials and pedicures! She was wildly hilarious and a spit fire. I will miss her dearly and cannot believe she is gone. My heart goes out to her family as you were here love and light. She was constantly talking about each and every one of you. I hope she is at peace and I will always cherish the fact that I got to know her so well! 🩷 love you Linda!
