Obituary Photo for Lore Helene Huebler Mahler “Oma” < >

Lore Mahler, our beloved Mom and Oma, age 90, passed away peacefully on August 28, 2023.

Lore was born on July 31, 1933 in Siglingen, Germany to Erwin Huebler and Helene Steinbrenner.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 65 years, Heinz Ludwig Mahler, and her son Frank Mahler. Lore is survived by her son Heinz Joachim (Nancy) Mahler, 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; sisters Hannelore Ridley and Ursula Glaser; sisters-in-law Gisela Nitz and Ingeborg Mahler Fingerle; nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly and unconditionally. Nothing was more important to Lore than her family.

Lore and Heinz, along with Joachim and Frank, immigrated to the United States in 1963, crossing the ocean from Bremerhafen to New York on the ship MS Berlin. Although she always remained a stubborn German, she loved her adopted country, became a proud American citizen, and always made sure to vote.

Lore was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many callings in the Heilbronn, Germany Ward and in the Parley’s 5th Ward. Lore also served together with her husband Heinz in the Salt Lake Bishop’s Storehouse (where Heinz served as Bishop), as a Temple worker at the Salt Lake Temple, and as a service and leadership Missionary in the Salt Lake Liberty Stake. Heinz and Lore were sealed in the Bern, Switzerland Temple for time and all eternity.

For many years, Lore worked as a hostess at the Foothill Marie Callender’s Restaurant along with her sister-in-law, Gisela. The two of them were not only a great team but an absolute institution with never a dull moment.

Lore and Heinz loved to travel, especially with Guenter and Gisela Nitz, enjoying many vacations and cruises together. Lore made many dear friends wherever she went and treated everyone with love and kindness.

Oma will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew and loved her.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with funeral services to follow at 11:00 AM, at the Parley’s 5th Ward Church, 2615 East Stringham Ave, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment to follow at Larkin Sunset Lawn Cemetery.

Lore was and will always be a beautiful soul. It was a pleasure being able to assist her at legacy house. Lore was always very patient and kind. I never once heard a complaint out of her mouth. I hope everyone remembers to love each other unconditionally to continue Lores legacy.

I loved and adored my friend Lore. I served with her and her loving husband, Heinz, in the Salt Lake Temple baptistry for a number of years. We spent many hours working and talking as we served together. We laughed and cried together. Even though we were 20 years apart in age I count her as one of my most dear friends. I know there was a marvelous reunion with her beloved Heinz. God's speed my friend until we meet again. ❤️

I would like to send my condolences to the Mahler family. I grew up in the Parleys 5th ward. I always enjoyed listening to Lori Mahler’s testimony every Fast Sunday. Thank you for sharing your testimony and experiences of growing up in Nazi Germany.

Thank you for your hard work and hard work. RIP
