Celebration of Life
Social Hall Meetinghouse, 110 Social Hall Avenue, Salt Lake CitySaturday Jul 20, 2024 11:00 AM
Louise Anne Rolapp Jones died at her home in Salt Lake City on June 11, 2024, leaving a huge loss in the lives of her family and many friends who loved her.
Born on September 5, 1945, in Los Angeles, California, Louise was the second of five children born to Ralph Thatcher Rolapp and Barbara Howell Richards. She attended Beverly Hills High School, where she served in student government and was voted junior class "homecoming princess" and the school's "best looking girl" her senior year. After graduating high school in 1963, she attended Brigham Young University, where she was elected freshman class secretary, was a member of the Chi Triellas social unit, and met the love of her life, Christopher Talmage Jones of San Gabriel, California. They married in the Los Angeles Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on July 16, 1966. (Her engagement picture appears below.) They made their homes in Branson, Portland, Los Angeles, Denver, Provo, Scottsdale, San Juan Capistrano, Newport Beach, and finally Salt Lake City. Along the way they raised their four children, made countless friends, and influenced for good those fortunate to know them.
Louise and Chris returned to Provo in 1983 so she could complete her bachelor's degree in elementary education at BYU. She taught elementary school in Provo and Scottsdale for 10 years while earning a master of arts degree in education from the University of Phoenix.
Louise loved people, and people loved her. She shared her infectious smile and a lifetime of joy with everyone she knew. Whether she was playing wiffle ball, boogie boarding at her "happy place" of Newport Beach, or dancing the night away at her oldest granddaughter's wedding just two days before she died, she had boundless energy and love for life.
Her life was one of service. She served on the auxiliary board of San Juan Capistrano's Camino Health Center, raising funds for patients in need at Mission Hospital. She served as president of her church's Young Women and Primary organizations and as Relief Society president three times. She was serving as a temple worker in the Bountiful Utah Temple and as a Relief Society president in the Salt Lake City 14th Ward when she passed away.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents, older brother Ralph Richards Rolapp (Marilyn), and her husband, Christopher. She is survived by their children, Barbara Jones Brown (Matthew), Collins Rolapp Jones (Kelly), B. Parker Jones (Stella), and Kimball Richards Jones (Jennifer); 14 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and her siblings Nanci Williams (Randy), Franklin Rolapp (Anna), and Marie Bennett (Steve). All will miss her but will cherish memories of her welcoming home and company, delicious meals, and warm smile and embrace.
A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 11 AM in the Social Hall Meetinghouse, 110 Social Hall Avenue, Salt Lake City, where friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 that morning, or from 7:00 to 8:30 PM on Friday, July 19. Interment will take place in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. For those unable to attend, services will be streamed. Please click on the "Watch Services" link above. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Louise Jones, to The Road Home-Midvale Family Resource Center (https://theroadhome.org/donate/) where Louise regularly gathered and donated school supplies for children experiencing homelessness.

We have many, many fond memories of Louise and her eternal companion Chris. Especially our numerous "BYU Alumni Parties" for the last many decades. We loved them dearly.

We are saddened to hear of Louise's passing. We were blessed by our association with her and Chris during the many years that we lived in the same ward as them in Scottsdale. We offer our sincere condolences to the family.
Louise was a dear friend to us and we will miss her wonderful zest for life, her great smile, her creative nature and of course her friendship. We can only think how joyful she must be to be reunited with her kind husband Chris. They’re a match made in heaven!
I love Louise. I served with her in the Relief Society presidency in Newport Beach.
My favorite response from her was when I ask her when you ask Chris how you are doing financially he would respond “we are good today”. I’ve carried that philosophy to help me remember to be mindful “ I’m good today”.
I am so sorry for your loss, your mother was the most amazing woman!
She was so unselfish and served everyone. When I was President she was the compassionate service leader, she was so helpful in giving rides, taking meals and comforting with those who needed comforting. Your mother was a perfect example of Christ-like love! I will truly miss her.
Love
