Louise True

1939 ~ 2022

Louise True, nee Smith, 82, formerly of Frankfort, Kentucky and Lakeland, Florida, died 9 July 2022 in the Alta Ridge Memory Care Center in Sandy, Utah.

Louise was born 7 November 1939 in Hatton, Kentucky, the daughter of the late Leon LeMaster Smith and Stella B. Rodgers. She was the oldest of five children. Louise was raised on a farm and was educated in Franklin County, Kentucky. She married Chester True 18 August 1953 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple, 26 June 2003.

She began her work career in Kentucky as an assembly line worker for Texas Instruments. Later she took a job with the Sears Catalog Department in Frankfort. After moving to Lakeland, Florida in 1970 she worked as a bookkeeper for Rowan Electric and Allied Scrap Metal. She then entered the banking industry with Imperial Bank which was acquired by Atlantic and First Union Bank respectively. She moved to Peoples Bank which was later acquired by Huntington National Bank. Upon retirement from Huntington she took a part time cashier position with Winn-Dixie until 2011.

She was a proud 42 year resident of Lakeland, Florida. After her husband's death she was a resident of Sandy, Utah for 10 years. Louise was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to sew, bowl, travel, play card games, and spend time with family and friends whenever possible. In the late 1960's she started researching the True and Smith family histories which two of her sons took over in the early 1970's and continue to build upon her foundational work. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Louise will be missed by family, friends and her bowling buddies.

Her husband, Chester, preceded Louise in death on 18 March 2012. Three brothers, Floyd, Richard and Leon Jr. also preceded her in death. Surviving are three sons, Garry (Sherri) True; Curtis (Hye Sung) True; Steven (Grace) True; a brother, Chester Lee Smith; 8 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

At a future date to be determined, a private family graveside service and burial will be held in the Gregory family plot of the Peaks Mill Cemetery, Franklin County, Kentucky. Cremation by Larkin Mortuary, Salt Lake City Utah
