Ruth Banks

1919 ~ 2017

Ruth was born in the family home in Fillmore, Utah on Oct. 16, 1919, the daughter of Dennis Wells and Margaret Olive Warner Black. She was married to Byron Larsen, who was later killed in World War II. She married Jay Elmer Banks in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 10th, 1949. Their marriage was solemnized later in the Salt Lake Temple.

Mom loved anything to do with family. She was a "giver". She loved sharing her time and talents with everyone ‚ family and friends. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in many callings.

She is survived by her children: Jayna Butler, Bountiful, Alan Russell (JoAnn), Sandy, Shelley Burleigh (Michael), Sandy, Carolyn Hambleton (Taylorsville), 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren with one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her parents, infant son, her husband, a granddaughter, a sister and a brother.

A viewing will be held Monday February 20th at 11:00 to 11:45 am at Larkin Mortuary (260 E. South Temple), followed by a brief family service. Interment will be held on Tuesday Feb. 21st in the Salt Lake City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
