Elaine Brewster Niederhauser

1919 ~ 2018

Simply beautiful, on the inside and out, would aptly describe Elaine Niederhauser who died on April 6 just one month short of her 99th birthday. She was also kindhearted, uncomplaining, and full of good humor. We will remember her for her never-ending dignity and grace. Not one to sit around, Elaine was always ready to go. And when she did, she was impeccably dressed with perfect hair and makeup.

Like many women of the WWII era, Elaine waited out the war for the return of her husband, John. They built a wonderful life together with their two sons, Richard and Ray. They travelled extensively and made friends wherever they went. They loved to dance starting with the music of the big bands, and in her late years, Elaine was still dancing with a bit of assistance from her walker. Hers was truly a life well lived.

Elaine is survived by her two sons, Richard and Ray and their wives, Sandra and Martha; four grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Lara, and Cheryl; four great grandchildren; and her brother and sister-in-law Jack and Donna Brewster, Atlanta, Georgia. At 98, too many loved ones to mention have gone before—most significantly her beloved husband, John, who preceded her in 2011.

The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Cottonwood Place Senior Living for helping Elaine to enjoy the adventure of living her last years. In addition, they wish to thank Cottonwood Place and Brighton Hospice for the loving care they provided in her final days.

A short memorial service will be held on Monday, April 16 at 2:00 p.m. at Larkin Mortuary, 2350 East 1300 South. Friends and family are welcome to call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
