Elizabeth Poulton Thayer

1917 ~ 2015

Elizabeth (Betty) (Pat) Thayer, mother, wife, aunt, sister and friend to all died August 23, 2015. She was born in Salt Lake City to her loving parents, Ernest and Jeanne Poulton on September 29, 1917.

She attended school in Salt Lake City. Betty (as she was known in her youth) related many times that her high school days at South were great fun and provided many happy, joyful memories for her. After graduating from school, Betty worked at various jobs. One of them was a restaurant named the Doll House. At that time, several of the young ladies working there were all named Betty. My mom then received her second nickname (Pat).

Pat met a certain young man named Robert E. Thayer. They fell in love and were husband and wife for over seventy years. I would say that their marriage was a success. My mom (Betty) had various jobs during her later years but she was a true homemaker. My mom's goal in life was to look pretty and to fill the house with beautiful things. She sewed really stylish clothes, made drapes, laid carpet and re-designed furniture with paint and decals.

(Betty) or (Pat) either one you choose was extremely talented and could have been an interior decorator. She did design one other thing that was important, it was me, her only kid, Tana.

My mom lived a long life, almost 98 years. She was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband and sister, (Mitzi Bailey). My mom's list of survivors is small, but very special, Tana Thayer (her daughter), Thayer, Paris, and Capri, nieces . Also, their husbands, children and grandchildren.

I want to thank Hyland Care Center and the Valeo Hospice for the excellent service and companionship they provided for my mom.

Our family will gather at Larkin Sunset Lawn prior to burial from 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery on September 2nd at 3 PM
