Heaven’s gates were opened to welcome its newest angel as our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother passed away peacefully on October 7, 2022, surrounded by family. Lyle E. Taylor was born on April 17, 1935, to Floyd Pratt and Ethel Amelia Sorensen Taylor in Lyman, Utah.

Lyle was the sixth of nine children. He grew up on a farm in Lyman, Utah and graduated from Wayne High School. He was on the tennis team in high school and excelled in academics. He served in the 116th Engineering Company of the Utah Army National Guard for 8 years. Lyle married his eternal sweetheart, Kathern Rasmussen, on April 18, 1958. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti, Utah temple on April 18, 1959.

Lyle’s career was spent as a heavy equipment operator and supervisor constructing highways, roads, dams and other major projects. Lyle’s most memorable construction project was building his own “home on the hill” – a cabin nestled away in Acord Lakes – a place that most of the family consider their own sanctuary.

Lyle was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints having served in many callings throughout his life. Most important to Lyle was his family and he left quite the legacy with 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren – all who adored and respected him. Lyle was a natural at fixing things. He knew how to do everything from framing, gardening, auto mechanics, plumbing and electrical and so much more – he was a natural “Jack of all trades.”

He is survived by his wife, Kathern, and 7 children: Russell Taylor (Jil), Lindsey Taylor (Lisa), Danielle White (Max), Stacy Atkinson (Brent), Gregory Taylor (Lori), Natalie Geertsen (Robert), and Brady Taylor; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Oscar Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers.

A viewing will be held Friday, October 14, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Eagle Cliff Ward, 1600 East Buttercup Drive, Sandy, Utah. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. at the Eagle Cliff Ward, 1600 East Buttercup Drive, Sandy, Utah. Interment will be at Larkin Sunset Gardens Cemetery, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah at 12:30 p.m.

Dear Greg and Lori: My heart is heavy for you with the loss of your remarkable Father. What a tribute you have paid to him Greg. He was a man with whom the Lord was well pleased. Great Father, Great Husband and Grandfather. Lyle was a man after the Savior's heart, that of service and devotion. May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort as you go through this tender time.
